Does it work without cellphone service?

The Defector podcast (the old Deadspin people) recently did an interview with Adam Conover and he does a pretty great job covering it in his discussions about the current WGA strike.

Depends on the latch system. I bet some would still connect while others may only appear to connect, but not have as firm a grab as they should, depending on the clip style. I preferred using the seat belts over the LATCH, but some modern cars do make it easier now.

I call it a win because the last thing I want are people like Thomas or Barrett to be re-interpreting how to legislate the internet. It’s just too bad they didn’t do the same thing for Dobbs...

While technically true, the workers at the bottom have the least amount of money to live while during the strike. So starting with garbage offers and trying to vote/negotiate their way to a better deal just adds on time they don’t have and may result in an eventual vote out of desperation instead of starting strong.

Exactly this. Can we please just skip to the stage where we pay a company a fee to have a bundle of companies services that all operate in the same ecosystem. I think I’ve just been progressively just watched less TV over the last few years as things continue to get more fractured.

Depending on your survival skills, that may or may not be an accomplishment.

It also probably makes story writing easier. Now they have dozens of character arcs to play with for decades across the galaxy.

You beat me to it. I have no doubt that they’d also sell this access to countries with similar dissident concerns like China & Russia.

That’s honestly all social media. Much like veterans, other high risk groups use social media as a safe haven or tool for fighting more powerful groups. Gay/trans youth that live in staunchly conservative households or communities, Black communities that the city/state is trying to shove a new highway through, farmers

Let’s cap these leaky wells that you purposefully Chevron (et all) paid you to forget about for decades.

That’s mostly been my company. About 95% want WFH so as each lease runs out we’ve been cutting office space so each location only holds like 20% of local staff and then rolling those costs into employee events. People still want to get together, just not at the office every day. Now those people can get free

My daughter really liked the Resident Evil series when she was 4-5 (I’m sure I’ll get scolded, but whatever, we played monsters at the play ground and she was the hero). However, despite enjoying all of those, the Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion scared the heck out of her once the skeletons started moving. For about a

was criticized by audiences for furthering the American racial divide

I really enjoyed early Supernatural and thought it was just fatigue around that same time. I made an attempt to return to it years later and I think it was just that the later seasons were bad. At this point, I’m happier to simply start it from Ep1 and play it until I get annoyed again.

There are millions of high school and university students

I feel like this is one of the more supported union strikes in a while, and that feels pretty good. There will always be detractors, but it seems like the way VCs have so heavily infected everything the last 5-10 years has turned public opinion in general.

That’s part of why I specified rural America. Racism exists everywhere, but there are more dog whistles in suburbia & cities, while that county of 3000 will have someone just say “we don’t like your kind around here” without any liquid courage.

No shit. In fact, it’s not even just America, if you care to be so pedantic about it.
