Relative to modern trucks, they are miles ahead. I almost even admire them when I see one still chugging along. I just think that is the turning point of the best styled boxy trucks before the late-90s era of truck design. Then it just keeps going down hill.

I think you’re right. Ford was just a few years later before blobbing the F150. I knew it was mid-90s that trucks become bland bubbles followed by the modern trend to make the grill as tall as a bus.

Whatever is newest. Truck design peaked in the 1980s and then held pretty nice until the 1997 F150. Trucks have gotten progressively uglier since then, culminating in the modern Silverado.

People still driving Evos make me think of skaters that were around in Tony Hawk’s prime. You can tell they used to party, but now it’s just time to chill and enjoy what they have.

I’ve had to do a lot of field noting in urban areas for projects. I learned early on to find major grocery or retail stores when I needed the bathroom instead of gas stations. Might have to drive an extra 5 minutes, but you never need keys/passcodes for the bathroom, they are infinitely cleaner, there are many more

which are not freeway lanes

That makes a lot more sense. I figured I was just confusing the Bronco Sport with Bronco pricing when I was shocked by so many configurations starting over $50k. Now it just looks like they are trying to chase up market like Jeep has been doing in recent years, but I see more Grand Cherokees or Waggoneers than Broncos

That happened to my family too. Multiple nurses in the family, including my wife who had her floor become a COVID overflow unit. One relative went on some rant about how nurses are quitting because of the vaccine mandate and other anti-vax stuff and my wife nearly broke down crying trying to explain to them that

I forgot how wild the MSRPs were on these to begin with. Hard to see them going strong in the $50k+ market when the suburban families buying these prefer either a Telluride adjacent vehicle or go with the Suburban adjacent vehicle for something bigger. That’s mostly just my own anecdote of living in a Texas suburb and

To me, it’s little things like this where the Big 3 fail in the luxury market. Rather than have a good, basic feature on a luxury vehicle, GM phones it in with probably the same camera that is on the Trax. Now I’m curious if Cadillacs are any better than this.

With how big the vents are, I think the driver look better having 2. Perhaps a thinner vent would look better as a single slot, like on the passenger side.

Hurricane zones disagree with relying on cell phones. Just a few months ago, the entire Houston area lost power for 3-10 days, depending on the location. That included major losses in cell service and at least 1 cable provider going down as far away as Austin. AM radio still worked. Tons of people in hurricane areas

That whole McDonalds story is a tremendous example of how a corporation would prefer to dump money into PR than actually do the right thing after they screw up because they deemed the PR cheaper.

GM is the undisputed champion of ruining their own good ideas. The kings of the ‘concept of a plan.’

I’m convinced that at least half of Americans think the president has a bunch of button & levers that control everything, like some kind of train or airplane.

Based a quick search, over 30 million people went on cruises in 2023. While we hear about the occasional bad thing, an overwhelming number of people have a good time. There is a lot of appeal to just handing over a chunk of money and then showing up to your Carribean/Mediterranean/etc. vacation with essentially zero

For something as essential and utilitarian as a postal truck, it’s nice that appearance was the least important factor and they went all in on function. Hopefully, the reliability is just as good as the form factor.

Just graduated high school, older friends just got back from college, and one of them had a parent who let us drink in the garage. Drove home that night when I absolutely should not have. Despite being drunk, I still vividly remember the paranoia the whole way, thinking I’d go to jail if anything happened. Had to pull

They live in California too, so motorcycle is the funnest answer for the fun car.

Insurance companies know that most people aren’t willing to cross shop, so they will regularly raise rates until consumers finally get squeezed out. While they may lose a customer that way, they have gained more from other companies doing the same thing. Since everyone keeps doing this, the market continues to get
