Plants are just as much alive as animals are. Genetically modified crops are about as "evil" as genetically or surgically modified animals. At least the guy is trying to ease their pain.

I'll tell you why this will never happen.
So this is why the crazy cat lady is a crazy cat lady. Gotcha.
How about we just take it at face value?
Why doesn't it bode well? At some point the question does need to be asked. Just because we are witnessing the very beginning of the process doesn't mean that it's not going to turn out well.

Ferrous metals are really the key. Like Nickel, Iron, and Cobalt. Without those, manipulation of electromagnetics are not likely. That would exclude them from developing quite a number of technologies.
The real question is, would there be enough metal laying around to be useful? While wood and stone tools might be pretty useful, there's no hope of us communicating with them if they can't gather enough ferrous metal to make an antenna.
For those that might be interested, the top image is of Al Faw palace in Baghdad, Iraq. A gigantic palace once used by Sadam.
John Ringo got me through a six month deployment to Baghdad. I wrote him a note thanking him when I got home. He actually took the time to respond back.
I feel your sentiment but I think you may be off a bit, and hopefully I'm right because I too want this film to be awesome. I have faith in Sir Scott, mostly because I get the feeling that this is a film that he really wants to do. This is the movie he's been waiting to make. And from all indications, it was the big…
Are you serious? No, it's not impossible. NASA has just been mismanaged for many years.
"Director Peter Berg, who is currently working on some obscure avant garde arthouse thinkpiece called Battleship..."
"Your citations limit the Feds, not State or Local LE" - My point exactly. The Federal Government is in the UAV business, not your local Sheriff. Some states are starting to come on board with a few of them grabbing Predators for their National Guard units though. I don't know how that plays out though, the National…
While there is no expectation of privacy, there also exists no free reign to collect intelligence on US Citizens.
That's funny... there must have been quite a few abridged copies of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in school libraries. I read one and just never got around to reading the whole thing.
Am I crazy or does it seem like they have totally turned around and started making Total Recall more like the original film? I seem to remember the plot synopsis from a while ago being totally crazy... something about going underground to China. I must be crazy right?
It's actually not bad for being a free service. Considering this, my opinion is placed on a different scale.
Sit in your cushy chair at your office job and complain some more... please. When you give up your freedoms and comfort to go dodge bullets, mortars, and missiles you might consider it a worthy perk.
The same could be said for the other side. Heroic males in comics are often depicted as being 7ft tall and impossibly muscular, chiseled jaws, and good looks. Comics show us idealized versions of people.
