That’s what I’m most concerned about those driving with non-winter tires in the winter, not the odd dashing of snow.

Winter tires are not just about snow. It’s also about the compound becoming too hard in too low temperatures. A summer tire gets hard like a puck around 45 degrees and becomes slide-y, even on dry roads.

Where I grew up, we hardly had harsh winters, yet the law required every vehicle to switch to winter tires before…
