Damn. You can’t watch that movie without coming away with the impression that this was a guy who’d faced a lot of troubles but was now trying his best to come out of it with positivity and a genuine desire to help his friends.

Kevin Smith did try to grow beyond the ViewAskewniverse, Jay and Silent Bob, all of that. And he got smacked around. Rather than deal with more of that, he decided to drop back and stay with what worked, as a filmmaker. Then he discovered that talking about it was even better gig than _doing_ it.

He immediately lost my interest with the clickbait “SNL stole my video” video title (when he admits as much that it’s unlikely.) “Hey one family member of that creepy toilet-paper obsessed bear tribe doesn’t want to do it” is something I would come up with in two minutes of spitballing “we have to do a Charmin sketch.”

Solid theory, but then I think of James Woods and Jon Voight - both highly respected actors with many awards and nominations for their work - who went batshit after 9/11. As traumatic as that event was I have to think their beliefs existed in some form before then. Maybe it was drugs, an unstable work/family…

The Jurassic series has sucked for the last quarter-century, because it was a premise that was only sustainable for one movie and they made that movie already, it was called Jurassic Park.

Her weight had nothing do to with that movie sucking! Maybe instead of worrying about her weight “problems” they should have worried about the script problems. Fucking pricks!

Eh, it was one good movie followed by a couple diminishing returns sequels. By Beverly Hills Cop III the franchise had clearly run out of steam, and I think most people were content to let it die and move on.

I know the popularized (maybe even original) story was by a Danish author and the animated movie featured white people, but the idea of setting this story in a Caribbean-like setting and having a diverse cast almost makes too much sense.
