I would actually love it if the Oscars experimented with ten Actor/Actress awards in the same category for a year or two. I imagine you would likely have more men than women nominated and it wouldn’t be good for actresses long-term, but it would be interesting.
I get your point and everything but to say that Meryl Streep was playing “a mother” in The Iron Lady seems about as fair as saying Brando won for The Godfather playing a Legitimate Businessman.
I just listed off 5-6 actresses or lady actors or whatever we’re calling them that didn’t play wives and won. That’s just what I could think of off the top of my head.
