I totally agree. House of the Dragon needs it’s own music. I am glad the visual was updated for this season. Big improvement.

They’re pretending to be rat catchers, and the dog is part of that.

I think he’s going to because we have reached that level of collective delusion and willfull self-destructive curse-fulfillment. It’s as though people want to see how abject they can become.

The worry is that they’re too lazy to resist a mass uprising until it's already done.

I’m particularly concerned about Georgia and Arizona, where Republicans won’t make the same “mistake” again.

Yeah, like...we’re just going to try fascism, at some point. Actual, real-deal fascism. Couple that with our utter inability to learn until *after* a crisis hits, and yeah, not great!

I grew up in Texas and have lived in the Bay Area of California for years. When you get outside of the bubbles that exist in places like SF, Berkeley, and some parts of LA, you find that Californians and Texans have A LOT more things in common than not.

And then Bertha gets Agnes’ box at the Academy and has her cake and eats it too.

Agnes is set in her ways but she’s also pragmatic. Her opinion of the Reverend changed after he married Ada, it would change again if the Reverend’s estate ends up saving the Van Rhijn townhouse.

I’m going to be devastated if Jack Trotter’s invention is stolen from him by someone in the patent office or the Horological Society.

Poor Ada, what next?  She hires Mary Mallon for a cook?  Books passage on the Titanic?  Goes off to spend the summer with Archduke Franz Ferdinand?

Someone suggested it last week, but maybe we are setting up a scenario where the pastor unexpectedly leaves Ada money after his passing, and Agnes now has to bend the knee to her sister!

In other news, they are reallllly slow-walking the Marion-Larry relationship. We know that’s where this is heading.

OMG! What a twist that’d be!

In the show’s official podcast, it’s acknowledged that Maud Beaton is based on several women con artists of that era, in particular, Cassie Chadwick, who scammed millions out of American bankers by claiming to be the illegitimate daughter of Andrew Carnegie.

and that would be quite a twist!

Guaranteed the reverend was secretly wealthy, thus now giving Ada the upper hand in that household.

honestly, I might hate a “it’s all just an experiment enigneered by an evil mastermind” -twist even more than a comparatively straightforward supernatural ending. (Still, at this point, hoping for “natural causes, poison, group dynamics, mass delusion”) . Like you, I don’t see a way to pull it off in a plausible

Seems likely with Lauren Ambrose they added an actress who is up to the very high standard of the adult actresses on this show. Excited to see her in the mix as Van ... though I think she needs to be extremely cautious about potentially getting back together with Tai. I assume they broke for a reason

Same.  I mean, what was Tai’s end plan with Jessica?  What if Jessica found a survivor who took the bait and agreed to talk?  What Tai just going to say, “Naughty naughty, I caught you, don’t do it again?”  Considering Jessica herself all but admitted that she was a legbreaker and did contracts for clients, I think

Taissa in particular seems really, really dangerous in a way that I don’t think I have fully come to terms with. Why did she hire that fake journalist last year (which her friends still don’t know about) to needlessly poke at her friends & their secrets, ultimately getting her killed by having her threaten Misty,
