The centrality of the church in the “black community” and the extreme devotion of so many black people to the church are terrible hindrances to the progress of black Americans.

I cannot believe that parents think it is a responsible thing to do to enable a child to make life altering decisions at 8. Heck we do not let people vote until they are 18, drink until they are 21 because these are important decisions.

I disagree. Children are not complete, physiologically, emotionally or mentally. They are in the process of becoming, and meddling with that process in just about any way other than support is frequently disastrous.

There are plenty of people who do good work and exactly what Angelina does without any thanks and have the academic chops to go along with that experience who are better qualified for the job.

Seriously, I don’t doubt her good intentions here, and maybe this enables a program to get off the ground that might not have without her name behind it, but Angelina Jolie is about as qualified to be a professor at LSE as Donald Trump is to be President of the United States.

So many people have devoted 25+ years of their lives to obtaining a PhD, academic research, and writing to teach at a world renowned university. If Angelina Jolie was teaching my class I would want my money back.

I just marathoned this over the weekend and loved it. Best TV I’ve seen so far in 2016. It’s fantastic. I’m a now officially a fan of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and will watch anything she makes.
