I do get frustrated sometimes when I see non-black POC demand things from black people without acknowledging the anti-blackness in their own communities. I can’t get behind your generalized comment about non-black POC failing to combat anti-blackness. Quite a few non-black POC groups have participated in the Black

I think each marginalized group is oppressed in different ways and pretending that black oppression is somehow more privilege than other types is ridiculous.

I would like for people, esp. other people of color, to stop acting as if black people are in this privileged position where everybody takes our concerns more seriously than they take the concerns of other marginalized groups.

Thanks for this article. It’s too bad so many of the comments are from white racist so-called “feminists.” That said, I’m happy to see more criticism of Bill today than yesterday.

When a community has been devastated by certain policies that a current presidential candidate supported, then there’s more going on than mere “pointing fingers”. I’m sick and fucking tired of people reducing black concerns to shit like “pointing fingers.” Maybe it’s time to stop this reductionist bullshit and start

Not just Bernie supporters. One of my Hillary-leaning friends is starting to consider Bernie more seriously after his comments yesterday. A lot of black people were put off by the Clintons after what he said.

That’s not true. A lot of pro-Hillary people who are black were upset by those comments as well.

Super disappointing. I was happy that he was acknowledging his mistakes. The fact that he is is taking steps backward now is unfortunate.

Yeah, he did support welfare reform that hurt black people. He defended that in this rant as well. He’s a mess.

Because those politicians, unlike you, feel like they are better than black people and feel like they know better than black people. Many of them also cannot fathom being challenged by black people, particularly in the non-respectable way that Black Lives Matter does it.

Bill apologized for it until he defended it today so that “apology” is meaningless.

Thanks for writing this article. Most of the commenters on Jezebel are being really obtuse about this. If Bill Clinton had spoke as condescendingly to female activists speaking on abortion, they would up in arms accusing him of being patronizing, mansplaining, etc.. The way so many white Jezebel commenters have

The appropriate response would be to acknowledge Hillary and Bill’s violent, immoral, damaging behavior. Apologize and move on.

I’m in the greys, but I hope this reaches some people, LOL.

Please understand that I do not support Sanders because of what others have “made him out to be.” Please also understand that I support Sanders because, after comparing him and Clinton, I have determined that he would move the country in the direction I want it to go in.

Yeah, I woke up and felt encouraged by the numbers as well. It’s good to know that Bernie was able to bring the race so close despite being a grassroots campaign. It shows that there is a real place for progressive politics in this country. Hopefully, more progressives will start running and winning in state and local

I think progressives need to focus on state and local races now. Hillary won’t move on her own, but Congress becomes populated with progressives, she’ll be forced to address progressive concerns more seriously.

I don’t know what it will take for people to wake up either. I’m encouraged by how close Bernie came in the races, however. It’s pretty astonishing that he came so close in so many races with a grassroots campaign. I think that progressives need to start focusing on senate, house and local races in the coming years to

It’s both unsurprising and surprising to me. It’s unsurprising because Clinton has the advantage in almost every way. She has the “liberal” media, she has the DNC and she has name recognition. It’s surprising, however, because I cannot come to terms with people being satisfied with the status quo that she represents.

If she becomes the nominee and wins, hopefully the rising progressive movement will force her to be a better president than she plans on being. However, if she wins and has the party and media establishment behind her, she will try to frame the progressive movement as irrational so...that sucks.
