If you’re under the impression that there’s anything close to a consensus on the effect that increasing entitlement spend has on output then you need to retake that degree. Even Krugman caveats that increasing entitlements only boosts output in times of economic depression.

Deploying the national guard is probably a good outcome. At least it’s quickly reversible, unlike a $30B investment into a useless wall. Probably more effective too at preventing unauthorized crossings.

It’s a nice sentiment, but there are way more folks who would love to live in the US / Europe / Canada / Australia / Singapore etc than these places can realistically accommodate.

Almost every business owner has thought about an exit at some point. I don’t see anything wrong with folks taking up a good offer that rewards them and their families for the capital and sweat they’ve poured into their businesses.

That approach should also include substance abuse treatment which is funded by the government if someone doesn’t have the means (or, better, a single-payer healthcare system which includes substance abuse treatment)
