I am, but I was really fortunate to not get that message this morning. I disabled the government alerts under my notifications on my iPhone a few weeks ago, because I was being inundated with flash flood warnings when we had some heavy rain.

I recently moved into a condo that doesn’t have a dishwasher, but this time I cut down, way down, on the amount of dishes and silverware I keep in use day-to-day. I didn’t unpack the entire dish and silverware set that I got — I took out just a couple of plates and bowls, forks. knives and spoons, and kept the rest

Not quite a hack, but I found a life-changing product: those produce-saving containers from Rubbermaid. They’re a bit expensive up front, but totally worth it!

I find your comment interesting, because I’m from another island (Oahu) that had similar issues, despite us having an urban center (Honolulu) and somehow managing to cram more than 1 million people into such a small place.

I got my Biossance sampler from Sephora a couple of weeks ago, and I love the full-size squalane eye cream that came with it! It absorbs right away, is fragrance free, and doesn’t migrate to other parts of my face when I’m sleeping, which is a problem I’ve had with other eye creams and serums.

Nyx’s I Love You So Mochi palette looks really fun! Been seeing it a lot on Instagram:

The parents are also totally allowing it, her not working. And I’ve totally seen what the extreme end of this can look like. I had a friend who has similar issues to LW2, but much more compounded:

I’m 39, recently moved, and have been single for a while now. This is the most inspiring thing I’ve read in a long time.

I’m an editor on the other coast, and reading this makes me sad. Less than $50K a year, even in New York?!

I agree that it sounds like LW2 is waiting for the right, high-paying job, which she literally can’t afford to do. The interview/approval process could take FOREVER! I have close to 15 years of experience in my industry, but the corporate process to get my current job took about two months, and I had to go through

They’re also lifesavers when you’re too hungover or sick to cook.

I agree, it’s such an exploitative industry and a part of me hates that it’s been glamorized. Aside from all the other BS that servers and other restaurant workers have to deal with, verbal abuse and harassment will come from customers, too.

This is minor compared to the bigger achievements on this thread, but I finally managed to declutter and stop accumulating stuff.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Best comment in this thread! Just LOLd at my desk

I used to have to attend events in the evening, after the work day, two to three times a week. So it was constant networking, getting-to-know-yous, and small talk. I’m not introverted, and I enjoyed many of these interactions, but after a while, it could get exhausting. During really busy weeks, I looked forward to

For me, the city I lived in played a huge factor in the dating pool.

What? Allure did that? No, no, no! So many things in the ‘90s were great (like the music and Docs) but the brows CANNOT come back! I’m also a victim of overplucking my brows and at age 39, am still suffering from it, so I’ve got strong feelings about this.

I’d be ok with having the body I had in 2007 again, just none of the fashions, please!

I’m guilty of the food pics and it started through a former job, where I dined out a lot and attended restaurant openings for work. I’ve left that job but still take food pics, mainly when I go to a new place that just opened in town, or find a dish/drink that’s really well done and stands out. I try my best to not be
