During a gap year when I was 19 years old, I was living far away from home and got into a relationship with an awful, manipulative guy (of course I did not know it back then). While we were dating, I had to go back to my home state for about a month because of some family issues, so I gave him the number to my

Holy fuck. I’m glad you got him out of there!!! I don’t understand what he was trying to accomplish by showing up on your doorstep, six years later! Was he expecting you’d roll out the red carpet?!

I’ve been out of college for about 15 years, and I still get these dreams. But they always take place on a high school campus, NEVER my college campus.

The author also didn’t offer his friend any suggestions on what to order or try.

This is terrifying. I have it too, it happens on and off. The paralysis tends to happen just as I’m falling asleep.

I like Pop Pilates/Blogilates, an exercise series created by a YouTuber. It’s low impact but more challenging than it looks (I’ve woken up sore from the ab and leg work), and I always feel great afterward. It’s easy to do whenever you want, and all the videos are free. Some people may not the like the founder’s

A parasite?! And that long?! Jesus!!

Have you tried any high-calorie protein shakes, or maybe something like Boost? When my dad was sick and lost way too much weight, Boost was part of his diet recommendation. It helped him gain 20 pounds over time (back to his normal weight).

I’ve only been gone from SoCal and in my new home for one week, and I’ve already got such major road rage, lol! I can’t stand drivers that go slow in the fast lane (the passing lane!) or that are distracted.

Thank you, it was VERY difficult for me to remain diplomatic in that moment when they gave me that answer.

With the right salsa, onions and cilantro, brain tacos are good!

Perhaps I can give some insight. I worked at a mid-size city magazine, and found it was difficult to make editorial changes or overhauls there. So I can’t imagine how bad it is at the national level, and at a company like Conde Nast.

I’ve willingly had balut, durian, brain tacos and pig blood mixed with rice. But I don’t know if I could bring myself to eat this! I’ve also heard it can be dangerous, that it’s easy to choke on the live octopus.

They came into the house???? I am noping all over this lol

It is! I’ve mainly heard it in LA and San Diego, not sure about the Bay Area.

I just moved away from Southern California, to a place where I have to drive the speed limit and it’s not socially acceptable to honk. I’m enjoying (and appreciate!) all this knowledge of and debating over the LA freeway system

I’m glad to hear that you had a great time there and felt welcome!

The land border crossings have also been the worst experiences for me. My white friends don’t get it either—quite a few of them have neglected or not cared to bring their passports with them to Mexico, because they knew or just expected that they’d be let back in with just their driver’s license. For us? No way!

Clearly you’re not familiar with the Chinese Exclusion Act and the internment of Japanese Americans.

Learning all of this, and even my own experiences when I reflect on them, are still so bizarre to me. I’m from Hawaii, a minority-majority state, where most of us are mixed/biracial, or of Asian and Polynesian descent. I didn’t experience the discrimination and racism that I mentioned upthread until I moved away for
