What I don’t get are the people who talk in a much higher pitch when they think they’re saying something particularly funny or clever. I get that they’re signaling that they expect laughter or appreciation, I just don’t understand why that’s the tactic they’re going with, especially since it almost never works.

For a given at-bat, getting a one-pitch out is great. But doing that consistently has proven to be an elusive and unreliable skill. Chris Sale announced at the start of 2016 that he was going to try to get guys out faster rather than chasing strikeouts in the hopes of going deeper into games, and he proceeded to have

I hate that I’m about to defend Jeff Secessions, but here it is: Recusal wasn’t even disloyal to trump. It was simply something he was obligated to do. It’s virtually the only thing that Secessions has done right since becoming AG, and that’s going to be his undoing. Hilarious.

The comments on the Breitbart article are amazing. The deplorables are splintering hard on this issue. It appears that a lot of them are pro-Sessions and turning on Trump. It’s kinda sad that ol’ Jeff Secessions would be the one to finally peel off some of his crazy support, but I guess you take your wins where you

It was this one. This is the one that got likes.

It’s like saying “We can’t consider Kamala Harris’s bill to reform the bail system until every criminal is behind bars.” What they’re really saying is “We will never consider this under any circumstances.”

Someone pointed out over on The Slot that it sounds like he’s confused health insurance with life insurance. There’s a very real chance that he’s not aware that they’re two different things.

I think to really have an impact, it would have to be done on a national scale, almost with the same level of effort as a typical presidential campaign (and all the expenses that entails). So I can see low-level candidates not wanting to be in the vanguard of this kind of thing. As for any candidates who don’t know

They don’t mind if they have to suffer as long as the people they look down upon have it even worse.

Moncada - who played eight games last season for the Red Sox before being dealt to Chicago in the Chris Sale trade - is the first of this lot to get called up.

Giolito was so hyped that if he’s still bad two years from now, you’ll still be able to get something back in a trade from another org that thinks they can fix him. The only way he ends up a zero value for the Sox is if he hurts himself seriously.

The Cubs were able to survive the failures of prospects such as Josh Vitters, Dan Vogelbach, Arismendy Alcantara and Jorge Soler because they had such a wealth of prospects. The Sox are wisely following a similar course. Some of these guys will be studs, some will be bums, and no one knows which are which yet.
