Yeah, it’s one of the things I miss the most about leaving back in CT. I loved it- buy a monthly pass, stake out your territory, then transfer to the subway in GCT or Times Square.

I wear multicolored and patterned tights to spice up my outfits. Also I have a lot of cardigans and corduroys. Layers are amazing - you can wear a nice long-sleeve or even short-sleeve blouse over some slacks, cords, or a skirt with tights and add a scarf and your coat for warmth.

I’m watching Archer. Late to the party I know but I love it :) I think the next series I’m going to start is Nurse Jackie, because I love Edie Falco so much.

Hugs. I have a dentist phobia too (severe food allergy) so I’m really weird about stuff going in my mouth. I’m sure you’re doing this already, but avoid really hot and cold foods and take painkillers until you can get in and see someone. Also use some anbesol (I think that’s what it’s called) for a topical painkiller.

I’ve dealt with both, and am now looking at 20-30 minute commute one way. I prefer living closer to work since I can’t take mass transit here (west coast, not SF resident). I honestly would love to move back East and take Metro North or some other commuter line, because I enjoy having the time to think, read, and

MA and Ph.D? I may end up going that route, but I’m really truly hoping that I can go straight through for both degrees. Also, awesome on you for doing it twice! Good luck.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been throwing myself into the whole grad school process so I’ve been emailing professors, programs, and admission coordinators for months. I actually had a reference for a program that would allow me to have a discount for applying to a certain set of schools within a consortium too. I am

OMG I THINK I JUST GOT UNGREYED! Thank you to whomever did that for me!

Probably waffles. I’m sick and don’t feel much like eating and am too lazy to make soup :(

I am under the weather (stupid dumpster fire) and don’t want to go back to work on Monday. At the same time, I only have five and a half months left, so there’s that. Anybody else leaving their job/career soon? My bff is making a change soon too.

I’m applying to MA and Ph.D programs. Field is education, and actual concentration depends on the school. My Dad wants me to narrow my schools down, (and truth be told I kind of need to do it) but I have this fear that I won’t have enough options. Course I ended up applying to nearly 20 colleges and had too many

For those who applied to grad school, how many schools did you end up applying to? My list has 18 currently and I’m trying to whittle it down to a slightly more reasonable number.

If it’s any consolation, we’re dealing with the same thing with my in-laws. It isn’t fun and a peaceable quiet and calm holiday for us means no contact, but for now it’s working. Will continue to send kind thoughts for you.

What’s everyone reading?

Wow, wonderful goal! I’m definitely going to try to increase my reading this year, which includes annotating my free reading books :o/ Guess that makes me a super-nerd. Or former English teacher. Starting on Their Eyes Were Watching God now.

Good for you and good luck to you! I hope it works out and will keep sending positive vibes your way.

We’re going through something similar with my husband’s family. They’ve been incredibly unsupportive of us and our relationship (I think they are jealous of my place in his life for some reason) and as a result we haven’t spoken to them since our wedding this past summer. It’s been strange but cathartic, since they

That’s such an awesome feeling! I love that you’re doing this and I hope it works out for you!

Wonderful job on the 60 pounds! I lost that much myself and I definitely feel much better. For sure focus on your diet and keeping active. I find that even a nice walk during the day as a break from work really helps me focus better.

Congratulations! That’s awesome!
