IVe noticed the slope thing with most of the flyers - I farmed Legiana (which made Odogoran cake) and definitely had the easiest time when we were in the sandy ravine part of the Coral Highlands. I’ll try the Diablos quest first tonight and see if I can knock him out first and then go back to gitting gud at Rathalos.…

I still regularly “overswing” the Charge Blade - the thrust into shield bash into overhand Axe chop/elemental discharge is my base combo and sometime the transforming swing misses. But that’s on me and not timing my window well enough.

1. That’s the point and exactly what this article is talking about - you can’t mash buttons in this game. If you input a combo, the combo will finish (with a couple of exceptions - there are weapons with “interrupt”) and if you pressed too many buttons, you’ll still be swinging when the monster unloads on you.

This was my situation - I tried all of the “easy” weapons and nothing really clicked. Then I picked up a Charge Blade and haven’t looked back. It isn’t THAT much more complicated and it’s a LOT more versatile.

I’m staring down Rathalos and Diablos right now. Going to need more time to git gud - Rathalos triple carted me in about 15 minutes last night (and the majority of those 15 minutes were spent dodging, not beating face).

Charge Blade! I prefer the default sword and shield that Charge Blade gives you - it allows for more quick attacks than the Switch Axe. It’s hard to get boot straps into a uterus.

It’s a phenomenal game right now. With the Xbox patch yesterday, everything is running “as intended”. I wouldn’t expect much more to do with the matchmaking since that would require a complete tear down and rebuild of that system. From here on out, it’ll pretty much be DLC patches.
