I actually think there’s plenty of rich people who think that’s what a rich person is. Many of them now work in his administration.

The real challenge is figuring out how to reallocate money currently going into the healthcare system from consumers. The studies I’ve seen shows that single payer will lower overall healthcare costs to our economy, and the fact is that while doctors may grumble about it, show me an advanced country where almost all…
I feel like I can only accept Medicare Extra if the overall conversation is that it’s a stepping stone - like Obamacare ended up being.
It’s hard to say that any piece of legislation is a stepping stone. Passing complicated legislation is extremely difficult, and if legislation stands on it’s own merits, has the necessary votes, and does some good with a reasonable framework for implementation and cost, then support it on the merits.
“Push comes to shove” when somebody has to sit down and figure out how to pay for it and when it includes undoing the latest round of tax cuts plus raising taxes on everyone, including the 47% who do not pay any federal income tax, some other solution will have to be found. Vermont and California have already figured…
Some of these candidates might end up supporting less-than-radical alternatives like Medicare Extra when push comes to shove.
Also well written! And 100% correct. Can I get it on a tshirt?
While I look forward to 2020 with some level of hope (especially after some inspiring wins and campaigns during the midterms), I also dread it for a number of reasons. We all know it’s going to be a brutal election cycle that will probably start sometime in mid-2019 whenever the first serious contender on the left…
This comment also applies seamlessly to Ben Roethlisberger’s career.
“there is an expression you often see on T-shirts and bumpers stickers that goes more or less like this: “Jesus Said It. I Believe It. That Settles It.”
Some (and I have to count myself in that some, as I raised the point) would also attribute it to the extraordinary privilege of their current (re: not starting) positions. But I also agree with what you say.
Well written.
TLDR: Trump is a poor person’s idea of what a rich person is, dumb person’s idea of what smart person is, a weak person’s idea of what strong person is.
Trump and a lot of the people in his thrall are, it seems safe to say, gone. They will continue walk among us—Trump will be in a golf cart—but they will never come back. They are somewhere else. There is nothing they are not prepared to believe if the right people say it; they will choose the right lie over any truth…
Obligatory typing of how no one ‘cares’ about this tired, plastic whore...
Trump is the embodiment of the American Dream for a depressing number of people in this country. It’s not so much the money or power, but having enough of it that it can allow you to say an infinite number of stupid things without threat to your status or livelihood.
Those being generous would call what the Bushes did in founding their charity a paltry attempt at retribution; those being honest would call it a craven manipulation of the charity system and elites with short memories.
If one can separate the personality from the ideals (they cannot), I’d say George W. Bush would seem like an amazing person to go out and have a beer with.
But, per my first sentence, the ensuing discussion during that beer would...not be kind.
It’s been a few years since I played, but you know in Madden online when the other guy rage quits and the game starts to lag and pixelate before the screen says “You have lost the connection to your opponent?”
i thought the Raiders might be decent this year. Boy is my face red.
If steam isn’t coming out of Gruden’s ears by the end of the year I’m done with Raiders coverage as much as those players are done with the Raiders.
