S2000 broke my back

This is a suprisingly poorly writen aricle.

And it’s not going to get better in the immediate future. GM is currently the prime example: The very affordable and good-selling Bolt (under $30k) is about to go out of production. There will be a replacement Bolt on the new EV platform, but definitely not for 2024. The next closest replacement, Equinox EV (low

I’d say the level of denial is starting to mimic blackberry.

Is electricity massively expensive in Massachusetts? Or is that only counting using commercial chargers? I couldn’t find the calculator you referred to, but where I live the off-peak rate is 13 cents per kilowatt hour and peak is 15 cents. So, for home charging, a full charge for an 82kw Model 3 longe range is $10.66

Can’t roll coal, which makes it unfit for purpose for most pickup owners.

This: Toyoda is on a PR tour to justify his poor leadership.

“Only 8%”

Toyota’s actions of late remind me a lot of Microsoft from the 80's - 2010's

I’m sorry Chairman, but I think there’s more than one reason the Prius is selling better than the bz4x.

I'm not sure you're right about this.  Demand for lower cost EVs is really high and GM has said that because of the Bolts popularity they are bringing it back.  I really don't appreciate the constant assertions here about people not wanting ev cars without any evidence.

“The Wall Street Journal also reported that Ford Motor was considering cutting a work shift at the plant where it builds its electric F-150 Lightning pickup as demand for the truck falters.”

Really? It’s too expensive to build EV infrastructure and you think the cheaper route is to rebuild society for less need to travel by car?

Now playing

Step 1: Make what’s arguably one of the worst EVs

I don’t think the bZ4X is a good comparison to the Prius. The Prius is the quintessential hybrid car while the bZ4X is not really competitive with other vehicles in its class. Let’s compare Prius sales to Teslas or Kia and Hyundai EVs (the ones I actually see on the road) for a more accurate result.

Most people that go EV never want to go back to an ICE, even with the issues. This situation has nowhere to go but up. Automakers are trying their hardest turn ICE cars into emissions and economy compliance appliances, and EVs just do those things better.

also, the new prius is sexy. Toyota should make a GR prius. I know it won't be manual, but give it a super conservative, functional body kit, pump up the electric motors, and put some fancy brakes on it, and I think you'd have a pretty compelling hybrid sports car.

I’m with you on the PHEV front. Give me 30 miles of pure electric for every day things and a full tank of gas for the occasional longer haul.  I realize it might not be for everyone, but that’s a perfect solution for my use case.

The production limitation on the Prius is absolutely baffling to me. It flies in the face of their whole “but we can make three PHEVs for every BEV” argument. But that’s everything about Toyota’s position on EVs, disingenuous to the core.

Looking at ‘22 and ‘23 Prius sales will be very misleading. ‘22 was the end of the previous generation, and the new model wasn’t in full production at the beginning of ‘23 and it is currently outselling last years numbers.

I know...it’s ‘trendy’ to be anti-EV these past three months...but time will really tell on this one and that long term outlook is EV.
