S2000 broke my back

FFS, you said that every compact car variation had the same wheelbase, I pointed out the Sportwagen, which was accurate. You needed to try tell me I was wrong, which I wasn't. I was wrong about the Civic because the images were scaled differently, you could’ve left it there, but you had act smarter than everyone else.

My favorite rental car ever is an oddball one: 2000's Kia Rondo. I got one of these as a rental when I crashed my S2000 (greasy toll plaza, fresh rain, summer tires).

The latest gen golf and Sportwagen we’re on the same mqb platform with a small difference in wheelbase. They were/are not totally different cars.

Noted. The image makes it look like the wheelbase is different. Also, the Sportwagen has a shorter wheelbase than the normal Golf, so it’s not unheard of for the wheelbase to differ for packaging reasons.

Looks like the sedan has a few inches in the wheelbase.

Came here to say this, but you beat me to it. Anytime I see a hatchback at a 30k price point, I can’t help but make the comparison. And almost always, the GTI is the better value. If only we could have gotten a Sportwagen GTI...

That’s great until you get really sick, run out of PTO, get laid off, and then have no insurance.

You need to get him back to the "home".

A Newer model Toyota/Honda with more miles at the same price is a much better buy. 5 years from now, you'll spend the same or less in maintenance/repairs, and you'll be able to sell the import for much closer to the purchase price. Once you put any miles on this the value will take a nose dive.

Get out of here with the 30 year old meh-mobiles. Just because it’s old doesn’t make it valuable.

Hyundai will have the better factory warranty. But the price difference should more than make up the cost of an extended warranty for the Ford. So basically a wash.

They did a good sized pile of full plywood sheets in the Maverick. I imagine it can handle lumber too. The feedback was very positive under load.

So does Jalopnik?

What do you mean “won’t tow, can’t fit a sheet of plywood”? There have been plenty of reviews where they do both, even in this site alone. 4k towing is much better than a CUV, which is where it competes price-wise. It does full sheets of plywood with the tailgate in the halfway position. The reviews so far have been

We have those too, but more often I see the decommissioned ones, which from 1000ft look like an unmarked highway patrol.

THIS!

In this market, as long as there aren’t any massive hidden issues, NP I guess.

This is one of the rare cases that the lack of the available manual doesn’t really impact desirability. The manual shifter on these cars, at least the V6 versions, was the sloppiest mess of a gear selector around.

The first 3 are complete nonsense. The rest, I can see. Still, no Rolls or Maybach?

And the Tiguan is worlds more refined than the Outlander, so considering that they’re in the same price bracket it’s a no-brainer.
