Stephen A Smith on March 15:
If Ayesha Curry stormed the court and punched LeBron in the dick (just gonna stick with that theme today), then yes that would be an issue. She got worked up (at the end of what appears to be a day of various issues), she said something dumb, and that’s it. She’s not out there acting like Miko Grimes.
Especially funny since someone on twitter put up Ayesha Curry’s original infuriated tweet and the subsequent, much more measured apology for it, and said something like “Damn, from Stephen A Smith to Deray Mckesson in under an hour!”
Did you ask your partner before you left this comment
It was a silly stupid thing she said. Sure. How does it reflect poorly on Steph? It doesn’t, unless you think that reflects his opinions, or that he dictates what she tweets.
On the other hand, fuck off. She can pop off if she wants. The league doesn’t pay her and she’s her own person. I doubt she’s the first family member to go off on the refs.
And if that was the entirety of what Smith was saying, we’d all be in agreement.
“Is Stephen A. Smith saying she’s ‘provoking’ a beating?” You know, just asking a question.
“What is controversial about what I’m about to say, I will present in question form, rhetorical or otherwise,”
GTFOH with that bullshit. male egos need no encouragement from us, that’s the problem. male egos are pathologically inflated and fragile because of toxic masculinity, not because of women “encouraging” them.
Also, I recently got told by a woman that if I turn a guy down at the bar and am even the slightest bit bitchy about it, I deserve to be punched in the face by him. This is where some people are coming from. Also, when men screamed “I’D LOVE TO SPLIT THAT ASS” from vehicles, it’s not a compliment—which she took as me…
AND they’re also finding a connection between rapists consuming alcohol (although not nearly as much as whoever they’ve chosen to rape), so that they have “but I was drunk too!” as an excuse/out if they get caught red-handed. And it fucking works, as we saw in this case. >:(
“women are just too emotional!”
You can’t win. If you trust your gut and try to protect yourself, even just by keeping your distance, it’s all “Don’t assume the worst.” “Don’t gossip.” and “Don’t be so mean to the poor socially awkward man.”
Talking to a friend about this case and we decided it’d be glorious if every time some dickbag uses the ‘boys will be boys’ line to characterize any sort of sexual harassment/assault/rape a woman punched him in the balls (possibly while yelling ‘scrote smash!’) and then shrugged it off as ‘girls will be girls.’
I wish you weren’t right, but you so very, very, very, extremely, very, undeniably very are.
That’s exactly it. We’re paranoid wusses who hate men and are too fragile to handle the real world right up until we get attacked, abused or raped, and then we’re morons who deserve whatever happened to us because we were too stupid to look out for our own safety.
Until something bad happens. Then it’s “Why didn’t you DO something?!?!”
Man: “Awww, why dont you give me a smile, I’m just trying to be friendly, you can at least be friendly back!”
Yup. Woman are always made to feel like they are overreacting if they find a man creepy. We’re supposed to be understanding of gross behavior and write it off as “social awkwardness.” Fuck that noise. Trust your gut ladies.
