Honestly, no complaints here. A bit of action, a bit of comedy; a bit of serious, a bit of silly.

ACAB

Come to Daddy has been one of my favorite recent finds. Elijah Wood is great, and the film bounces from humor to violence to menace to dread to excitement very well. I definitely recommend folks go into it without spoilers.

I fucking hate this family.

I had to spend a couple of summer vacations at my grandma’s house when I was a kid. She didn’t have cable nor a computer, but she had a VHS and six VHS tapes. Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey was one of them, and I watched it so much I could once quote the movie as it was going. If for no other reason, I have a soft spot

If anybody is looking to get fucked up, my partner and I played a drinking game while watching Beverly Hills Cop that destroyed us. Just four rules:

In the Bob’s Burgers cookbook, there’s a recipe that calls for slicing and grilling watermelon for a burger with mint and feta in it (I think). I was skeptical at first, but the watermelon slices acted like super sweet slices of tomato and worked WAY better than I expected.

My favorite is when he was supposed to be a non-threatening nerd computer hacker. He even went as far as to run away from danger without moving his arms. Nevermind the jacked biceps that are atop those arms, he runs like a dork so he must be harmless!

That is the moment of the movie that makes me giggle every time I think of it.

Same. Now the public can just focus on my dazzling blue eyes and imagine I am a handsome stranger.

I used to go to my grandparents’ house once a week during my childhood for a family dinner. My grandpa used to keep The Far Side compilations in the main bathroom for reading material, and the first thing I did just about every week was grab and read and reread those books.

Bringing out the Dead is one of my favorite movies, period, let alone my favorite Scorsese movie. The cast, the characters, the writing; all of it is just so good to me. The soundtrack also happens to be one of my favorite soundtracks (Van Morrison, The Clash, R.E.M., The Who)

I finally gotten around to watching Avatar: The Last Airbender series, and largely I loved it. Great characters, world building, stories; I just really can’t say enough great things about it.

I’m glad the show is ending. After everything that Season 3 setup, I couldn’t imagine the show lasting much longer without getting ridiculous. A controlled descent is better than nosediving.

I came here with the same bone to pick. Most people I know thinks Scott Pilgrim is a divine movie, and I disliked it greatly.

I recently watched through Avatar: The Last Airbender. It had some great storytelling and character arcs, and the animation was a lot of fun. I largely have nothing but great things to say about the show.

Raisintance

The time I can’t escape is 4:44

Gia Gunn has looks, certainly, but they definitely lacked in Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent. Admittedly, Bianca was so strong, the season was hers to lose, so none of the other queens had too much of a shot.

I’m not nor have I ever been very close to my dad. My parents divorced when I was 2, and as my mom had primary custody of me, I saw my dad about once or twice a week. This was fine for me, because once my dad realized I was never going to be an athlete, he lost a lot of interest in me.
