They do it just to mess with the guy. Some guys might think it teaches them a lesson about respecting the game or something (see Kyle Gibson’s peevish quote above), but it’s done pretty much only because it’s funny.

IIRC, he was not convicted of anything. Being found liable in a civil suit is different than a criminal conviction. You can still say “proven sexual harrasser” to get the same point across.
