Clitheroe?
Clitheroe?
I live in Pittsburgh. Jagoff fans from both teams used to invade our fine ballpark in the long long ago (like, 2011). Cubs fans are better than Cards fans, but I would rather skip the game than have to sit next to a group of average representatives of either fan base.
That third quarter was a bloodbath. The Celtics obviously are no match for the Cavs, so fans of both teams (with reasonable expectations) should be satisfied. The C’s played way above their heads in the first half while the Cavs eventually delivered a knock-out blow.
Writing out crazy lists of demands for a baby’s birthday party is the #1 thing that leads to defriending on Facebook.
Having lived in Boston and Pittsburgh, this sentence “And you never hear Pittsburghers bragging about their glorious surpluses of rivers and condiments” is false. Pittsburghers are equally provincial as Bostonians. I love both cities- the history, the food, the skylines, but the people in both cities are awful- they…
But overhyping Cubs prospects is such a time honored tradition! Long live Hee Seop Choi!
Buxton may need a little more time in the minors, given that he’s played a grand total of 7 games at AA. Meanwhile Sano has 73 games at AA, where he has hit .228. It would be insane to call either of them up.
Those have to be warm-ups.
As a Pittsburgher, my vote is for Nellie Bly.
Monty is fine, I guess. I can’t think of an available guy who would be an obvious upgrade (Mark Jackson would be a downgrade) and I don’t think they’ll open up the wallet to make a guy like Stevens become available. I just don’t see how they can take what they have and build it into a championship caliber team. Sure…
I’m not surprised by it. I don’t practice in Massachusetts, but in my city, after big trials, the jurors usually get mobbed by the media right outside of the courtroom or courthouse (recently, one jury had to be escorted out by four sheriff’s deputies after an unpopular acquittal), so it’s actually a service to the…
Hey, I found where the University of Oregon's uniform guy spends his offseason!
This is a fact. Now if the Cubs were smart, they’d get some fans and blow the smell at the opposing infielders right before they try to catch a pop up.
That’s probably true. Although no asked the pitching staff for their opinion. It sounds like RA Dickey likes it
If you had a big enough back hoe you could lower Coors Field in a few months.
Well that’s true, but at the same time, the condition of the floor/field remains the same for both teams. The opposing teams are free to have their own idiosyncratic advantage at their home park (and the Red Sox, with Fenway’s crazy angles and Monster, are one example of team with such an advantage)
I using the 1980s Cards as an example of a team that blatantly shaped the field to their advantage. To my knowledge, they were never disciplined for doing it.
Almost every home park has at least a few idiosyncrasies which can be construed as advantages whether based on practice or constructing a team around the park- the Rockies are one major example, but Fenway has the Monster and the Red Sox always look for sluggers who can take advantage of it, Oakland has a gargantuan…
This is a Coors Field issue to me- it’s the same environment for both teams. Teams used to slope the baselines fair if they had guys who could bunt for hits (or slope them foul if facing a Vince Coleman type). It’s gamesmanship, yes, but the fundamental condition of the field is even for both teams.
I’m pretty sure it’s been a while since you got the joke
