I’ve spent so much time in Rimworld; now that it’s easier to install and set up I should really give its inspiration another try.
Interesting. These games usually feel pretty story-heavy to take advantage of the medium, but in this case it’s like they decided plot was bad. It’s incoherent. It feels like some 80's games where you needed the back of the box to even know what you were supposed to be doing.
Yves Klein and Anish Kapoor were not meant to be role models, though really it’s Adobe here who’s nickel-and-diming everyone to death. Guess I should be happy I’m not in the graphic design industry anymore, that sounds pretty painful to recover from when you’re trying to open old files.
I miss when this kind of stuff was just included in your season pass. They’ve been experimenting with some new pay models and I’m not sure I like the way things keep getting segmented out as separate fees. I’d rather they just increase the cost of the season, if that’s the need, but I feel that way about video games…
I love that “surely this movie isn’t as scary as I remember” seems to be a common experience for Event Horizon. It’s still one of the scariest movies I’ve seen.
Thanks for the round-up. I’ll have to tinker with the lock screens, would be nice to have one for work and one for home.
What a lovely tribute. I will miss his writing, but I will also miss him; he was a delight and he invited us all to appreciate his perspective. He changed the way I saw games journalism and was the reason I started reading Kotaku in the first place. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
Genuinely excited about this. I really like the return of the neon aestetic from Season of the Splicer, and the new environment looks awesome. The storytelling this last year has been enough to keep me coming back, even as someone who doesn’t subscribe to the grind. It’s felt like checking in with my favorite TV show…
I’ve been looking forward to this coming out on switch; the platform seems perfect for it. Definitely going to pick it up, thanks for the heads up!
...her own brother calling the department back in March asking for the family to be put on a no-swatting list. (That request, according to Keffals, was “completely dismissed.”)
There’s some great resources here! I do feel the need to point out that there are plenty of actual pastel keycap sets out there, and that mechanical keyboards are easier and cheaper than ever to put together in any color scheme you can imagine. Even if you don’t want to look past Amazon, there’s some amazing options…
Could also be Catlateral Damage.
This feels more like a step back than a step forward. I’m betting they turn around and use this ‘feature’ to region-lock sexuality for countries that still criminalize certain sexualities.
First off, I can’t emphasize the flexibility enough. “I can’t promise fun, but I can promise an adventure” was kinda my family’s watchword growing up, and it’s my reminder to go with the flow on trips and try to remember that any momentary inconvenience will just be story fodder in the long run.
It’s always a difficult balance to strike, between addressing real-world issues and trivializing them. They clearly had some things to say about healthy relationships, but I’m still not sure they hit the mark with that.
It’s not perfect and some of the topics (like stalking) don’t jive with everyone, but I quite enjoyed Boyfriend Dungeon. It works hard to be inclusive, the characters are appealing, and the gameplay and graphics were quite fun.
My beau and I did co-op for Final Fantasy X with the ...temples? Dungeons? I’ve forgotten the name, but you absolutely needed a navigator with some of those. It was quite fun.

This game gets pretty wild, and the learning curve isn’t forgiving. That’s part of the fun, though, as you work your way through complex but consistent mechanics.
There are some third-party tools that can help with that (I like DIM: https://app.destinyitemmanager.com/) but yeah, more native support for organizing would be really nice.
