Starfield fails to capture the joy of wandering that Skyrim has. I don’t feel like I wasted my time with Starfield but I did (and do) enjoy No Man’s Sky substantially more. More damningly, I have no real intention of going back to Starfield, but I still have No Man’s Sky installed and spin it up from time to time.

God, wouldn’t that be the cherry on the sundae that is the ending of the trilogy. Just... undo all of the sacrifices and growth everyone went through to make it through ME3. From a results standpoint the characters would all want it but damn, I can’t think of anything less narratively satisfying.

Having recently recalibrated what I consider “possibly the not fun kind of scary” due to new friends, I strongly recommend doesthedogdie.com even for these films. It’s really helpful with movies you haven’t seen or haven’t seen in quite some time, and it’s good to be able to warn folks in a spoiler-light way that

PvP games in general aren’t my thing but I did get to try this one out at a convention and quite liked it. It had a very smooth learning curve and I was impressed by how smooth the fighting felt.

This has been my impression with a lot of the game’s systems; I feel like a lot of them weren’t coming together to make the game fun so they just dialed it all back. Things like fuel, environments, etc all feel like they were intended to be a lot more meaningful than they really are. The game frequently feels

I appreciated that they let most characters have the breathing room to become complex and multidimensional. It made the characters who stayed shallow feel like they actually were shallow, or just that broken

I wonder if this made the experience better or worse for the actors. I imagine having to be physically ‘on’ all the time was a lot more work, but the results really show. There’s a lot of storytelling in those movements.

Unvoiced protagonists never bothered me in Bethesda games. I prefer voice acting for everyone else, but an unvoiced protagonist in this kind of game makes it easier to project onto the main character.

Looking forward to something more narrative-driven. I’ve always enjoyed the campaigns best (except Lightfall... still not 100% sure what went wrong there, but I’m glad they seem to have learned from it.)

My problem in some of these situations is that ‘what my character would do’ is ask more questions. Sometimes in this game we’re presented with very little information and forced to make a choice. Frequently that makes sense (a deal with a demon, for example) but sometimes it’s a non-time-sensitive decision being

Tweak rules! Mod! Use codes! Save Scum! Dust off the damn Game Genie! Life is too damn short to live with an outcome you don’t like or a game that doesn’t suit your ambitions or the narrative you want to see.

Haha fair enough! And, as others have pointed out, there’s a big difference between trusting it in a pub versus, say, a trap-infested dungeon.

I legit have watched people—adults who I know play video games—navigate around an isometric map by repeatedly clicking just in front of the character, or using WASD.

The sequels had multiplayer? I had no idea.

Here’s hoping they dig them up! Those games were fun.

It’s a shame to lose you on the site, but I get your reasons. It was always a pleasure to read your work, and I hope wherever you go, you’re happy being there. Best of luck!

I’m extrapolating from cheater-identification tactics I’ve seen in other multiplayer PC games. AnarchyHD has a series on youtube where he shows his process of identifying cheaters; the videos can be a little mean-spirited but they are educational (and my pity for people who cheat on multiplayer games is... limited).

These are great earbuds! I’ve been quite happy with them. (And yes, I do have the light purple ones!) Their noise cancelling isn’t quite as good as my airpod pros but the sound is about equal for most listening. The touch controls are a bit fussy and tend to go off any time you’re adjusting the earbud in your head, so

You get a similar effect if you google “splatoon.”

In general I’ve been really happy with geekshare stuff; I cycle through cases and thumb grips for my switch because I’m weird like that, and I pretty much only buy from them anymore.
