I’ve definitely had those phases.. enjoy it! Life needs novelty, you’ve got to change it up sometimes.

Having just finished the Blood & Wine expansion, I 100% concur with your W3 inventory analysis. With using oils and potions being such a huge part of being a witcher, it seems bizarre that they’re shunted off to a non-primary tab in a slow-loading inventory system, where they are stored non-alphabetically. And I…
Site, you say?
God of War: At the Lake of Nine, I’m sidequesting it up. The trip to the Lake was surprisingly difficult, so I had reduced the difficulty to Normal, but as soon as I upgraded even slightly, things have become much more manageable, and so I’ve bumped it back up to Hard. I’m kinda puzzled at games like this or Witcher 3…
But then there’s Trespasser if you truly want to finish the DA:I story..
Yeah, bigger raids pretty much require access to a Discord channel, but generally you can search “cityname Pokemon Go discord/Facebook” and find one.
If you like that, try The Invisible Hours, which seems to share a lot of characteristics. I thought it was actually really well written and plotted (especially to keep mysteries engaging despite full range of control over what parts of the story you observe). My only knock is that the graphics in VR were pretty iffy.
Weird, when I think of Witcher characters, I think of the ‘true grotesque’ side of the excellent quote you referenced. Most major characters are interestingly flawed individuals rather than caricatures in my eyes.. outside of a sadistic gang leader here and there.
Yoku’s Island Express: I got ready for the Southern Fried Gaming Expo by playing this charming pinball Metroidvania, which I highly recommend. Nice and relaxing, nothing too challenging for pinball newbies, and really fantastic visual and audio work all around. I couldn’t put it down and burned through it in roughly a…
Having just finished Blood and Wine, I’m pretty hyped for a new CD Projekt game. Those guys just polish and polish, and it’s a blast playing through their meaty creations instead of the time-killer filler most games use. Hell, there’s HOURS of missable story content in B&W.. entire areas, new battles, cutscenes..…
Celeste: Finished the story (delightful), the B-sides (the rotating fireballs in 8B are infuriating), and grabbed a 1-UP. Now I just have 7 C-sides to do and the platinum trophy IS MINE!!! But here’s the thing. I noticed the platinum percentage was quite high for such a challenging game (7%!) As I was looking up how…
I immediately thought of the titular room from Silent Hill 4: The Room. The creeping realization that it wasn’t safe about halfway through is a beloved, anxiety-inducing memory of mine.
A chance to finally beat Castlevania III (sort of?). Yeah, putting this on the list.
Absolutely! The scariest part is the first part, and the next scariest part is the next part, and so on..
*pops off to read a quick review*
Yup, this game is REALLY up my alley. Guess God of War is getting pushed back on my playlist again.
Depends on your fortitude.. in VR, I don’t think I even made it out of the guest house in 2 hours. Granted, a LOT of that was, say, sitting outside a darkened doorway, controlling my breathing, and pumping myself up to walk through..
Dang, if FFRK had more of the story beats, I think I woulda stayed longer! I still stayed quite a bit (probably 5-6 months when it first came out), mostly to do story bits. It was the weekly event grinding (do this set of fights 100 times!) that got me to quit. That’s my typical progression with mobile games though,…
Just played the original Paper Mario about a year ago with the little one, and it seems a little bland gameplay and story-wise versus TTYD. Granted, he liked it, and we finished it (which I can’t say for Color Splash, which seemed to bore him.. I’m guessing the card gameplay frustrated him more than the story bored…
Knockout League: Onto the final three Grudge Match battles, at least one of which is gonna take me awhile. Currently working on the Iron Maiden, and it’s a fight that’s interestingly different from the others. Those were more about staying upright, and hers is more about beating the clock. Her body hook opening looks…
Revengeance is a fun game to replay on a harder mode once you get comfortable in that first playthrough.
I never did finish an S-Rank playthrough though, because there is one spot in the sewers with a bonus battle against those spider things where I could. not. get. the camera to work with me, and kept getting cheap…
