But.. wasn’t that him in the end?? Inconclusive, I suppose.
That was def sad, but you get so little time with him that the impact was muted for me.

Apparently they really upped the graphical fidelity from the demo, from what I’ve heard!
The Beat Saber webpage has the PSVR logo on it, so fingers crossed. I love rhythm games, but haven’t played a good one in awhile.. it’d be great to play one while also getting in some exercise.
Thanks for sharing the video! That was awesome.. brought back so many memories. For a game with such a bland-sounding setup as Papers, Please, I think it’s up there in the pantheon of games that enhance storytelling in a way that only games can.
The fake-out instant death that takes you back to the very beginning AFTER beating the final boss in Karateka is the kind of thing that is so bullshit, it carries emotion in me THIRTY YEARS LATER. I can’t even search for a Youtube video of it because it’ll make me so angry.
OK, I expected some degree of hyperbole in your description of the Blood Money song, but HOLY CRAP. So. Much. 1989.
The icing on the cake is the ‘ka-chings’ tying the song into the game’s name with a sledgehammer.
Fantastic writeup as always. Funny you bring up Wing Commander, as I was just thinking about it this morning.. I believe the train of thought went Passive Fist -> Full Throttle -> Adrian Ripburger -> Mark Hamill -> Wing Commander. So there’s a glimpse of my shower thoughts!
I also recall the use of cutscenes, however…
There’s something about Passive Fist that’s intriguing. Maybe it’s because the cutscenes remind me of Full Throttle? Maybe I should play Full Throttle. Actually, Mortician’s Tale and Florence sound nice too. I guess I’m receptive this morning!
Playing:
Perfect, that’s exactly what I like!
Well if this is in the company of Opus Magnum and SpaceChem, count me in.
Everyone is different, but it shouldn’t take too many play sessions to go from newbie to ‘ugh, where can I turn off the comfort settings’? Just quit pretty much as soon as you feel rough, and turn off the comfort settings one at a time. Starting with more stationary games and working up to something like RE7,…
As the chosen representative of the collective internet at this moment, I come to say (ahem):
GET OUT OF THE HINTERLANDS!
You will thank me.
You’ve illustrated the beauty of Hitman. I unfortunately burned out doing everything there was in France before the other episodes dropped, and was quickly exhausted with the prospect of learning the huge Sapienza world after that. But this is making me think about going back!
Oh, and read a fascinating retrospective on gaming’s first power couple, the architects of my youthful gaming love: http://www.filfre.net/2011/10/ken-and-roberta/
The South Park sequel has a MUCH improved battle system, which actually requires legit strategy on Hard. Might want to take a break first to avoid burnout, but I recommend it.
Doom VFR: Progress was slow at first.. real life intervened, and early sessions were short in order to try to acclimate to its super high-speed movement with all the VR comfort settings off, but I’m finally making progress. Dunno what to say about it.. it’s a straightforward fragfest, it’s fun, but it’s just mostly…
YOU HAVEN’T EVEN GOT OBDUCTION FINISHED ON PSVR YET AND I WANT TO PLAY THAT SO BADLY SO... um, do that first, please?
Is that Yoko Taro, or just someone with the head? Because I could easily believe either.
It inspired me to read this interview with him, where he talks (among other things) about how he writes better when he’s drunk: http://www.gameinformer.com/themes/blogs/generic/post.aspx?WeblogApp=features&y=2017&m=11&d=24&WeblogPos…
Ooh, I like this feature!
I’m not a huge fighting game fan, but I’m glad I dedicated a couple years to it recently so that I can understand things like how crazy that EVO video was. The downside of video game spectating, which may limit its long-term appeal, is that often incredible acts of skill don’t visually play as…
And now I just realized that what I played was, actually, Escape Goat 2. My heart is heavy this day.
Whoa, I loved Escape Goat! Who knew it merited a sequel, but I shall play it!
