I remember that! I also remember a plastic Corvette likely made by the same company that had a long rod with a steering wheel at the end that you could sort of “steer”. Havent been able to find a pic of one of these.
Yep, had that exact same set that met a similar demise. One of my aunts worked for Mattel in the mid 70s and I got a few prototypes that I loved into oblivion. Worth a ton now but wouldn’t dream of trading the fun had for some money.
The only way I’m on board is if they had gone full boat and replaced the drivetrain with a flathead and a 3-speed manual cause there aint no way with what I still maintain is one of the WORST engine/transmission combinations ever installed in a motor vehicle.

I hope your goddamn head was in it!
I must go for my people need me.
Delete the “6" at the front.
I nominated it and I don’t disagree. I think subconsciously its the Miami Vice tie-in that cemented it for me. I think Mama is a much better song that ITAT.
This X 1000.
Class of ‘86!
Haha yup, that’s very similar to the way I was taught going on 40 years ago and still do it to this day. I was taught to pull alongside and cut the wheel to the right, straighten out when my steering wheel is at their rear bumper and then cut right when my front bumper is parallel to their rear. I dont do it very…
That’s exactly what this would be for me - at minimum the interior and drivetrain would have to go and almost 7 grand for having to pitch pretty much all but the body is way too much money.
I want this really badly. A baby blue 2.3/4 speed one was my first car. It’s just too much money though. 4 grand is about where it should be and me being nostalgic out the ass for these would probably pay 5K which is really too much but no way at asking. It would need to be a better color combo at least or a 4 or 8…
