“How about just renaming it to General Shitboxes Sponsored by JD Powah, there Pauch?”

“5th Gear: Should GM Be Called Ultium?”

Of course we are, that’s what makes us so awesome. Given how opinionated we all are, and how RIGHT all of our opinions are (just ask us), how could we not all be 13 year old boys? Also... eBussy.  LOL

Everyone, I want to encourage you to take this moment, and prove to everyone in the automotive community that Jalopnik readers aren’t a bunch of 7th graders.

Exactly. Here at work with no sound. Can someone give the written version?

Seriously, how many of us are reading this at work and can’t take 5-10 minutes to watch a video? I almost exclusively read this site while I am at work.

I won’t spoil the story for you

This hasn’t aged well, apparently.

I can vouch for how bulletproof 4Runners are. Did 7 hours 4 4WD low doing some serious terrain on Crown King trail north of Phoenix.  Handled it like a champ.

“...brakes at 40k...”

We bought a 2019 ORP in Barcelona Red back last September. Used the Costco deal received 18% off MSRP, bought that bad boy. No regrets, great truck. Drives like a tank and you can just tell it is bomb proof. Like othewrs said don’t dwell on the gas mileage. Also I find that the 5spd and 4. are one of the best driving

Came here for this entire thread. Was going to buy a 4runner last Sept but it’s so outdated mechanically and technically I couldn’t justify the cost. As soon as I drove it, I was like “nope.” I can’t believe they are waiting until possibly 2023 to update it, especially with the Bronco coming next spring.

Outdated 4runner ftw. Friends have the last V8* model year and it’s still kicking ass and has been totally reliable.

I am on my third 4Runner and actually prefer the fact that it is a simple and a body on frame SUV. They hold their value amazingly well compared to most anything out there so I would definitively recommend it.

I wanted a 4runner in early 2018, but couldn’t get over how old it was. Ended up getting a Tacoma. If I wanted a 4runner now, I’d probably wait for the new Bronco rather than buy a design that old.

I’ve been paying very close attention to 4-Runners (TRD Off-Road trim), its on the short list of vehicles I may flip my Volvo s60 for within the next year.

Had the same year, it was the most capable, trouble-free, and one of the more fun vehicles I’ve owned. I had it in mud up to the doors, yanked Land Cruisers out when they were stuck, 1000's of miles for a road trip with my motorcycle strapped to the back. It never once complained, or misstepped. I do honestly regret

I bought it pretty much brand new, and have had absolutely nothing go wrong, brakes at 40K, routine oil changes, that’s it.

Buy the 4runner now, it’ll just get more valuable so when the refresh comes around you’ve got a solid trade in/sale
