I owned a black 2015 328i wagon, and there was never a time when I felt like that car needed even less power. The gas 2.0 was so weak and unresponsive that it really ruined that car. I can’t imagine the diesel engine makes it any more enjoyable.

I’ve testdriven a 996.1 coupe with an automatic, and it was honestly a pretty miserable little car. The 3.4 and automatic combo is a pretty sluggish experience in terms of response and handling. Please don’t assume it’s good because of the badge. This particular year and transmission make for a bad time.

With 4WD it’s especially meaningless. And the extra weight is sort of a bad thing when it comes to stopping and turning in the snow because now you have more inertia.
