Someone on another article also mentioned the higher value Speaker pension only kicks in after 3 years. If he’d quit in April, he wouldn’t have gotten it. Now he can bail and still get that sweet, sweet pension.

This was my thought as well. I’d love it if I could just explore and investigate to my heart’s content, but sentinel-less. To ensure it wouldn’t affect the economy too much, it could even nerf the value of resources/rewards or increase the requirements for building in exchange for choosing a peaceful journey option.
