Ford Ranger + 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 GO!!! I can dream...

PT Losers.

PT Losers.

Agreed. My mom and I lived in Crater Lake Oregon (which can get some massive snow fall in the mountains). Our 85 Honda Accord owned those roads with winter tires but they also allowed us to handle common ice conditions as well as (if not better) than our AWD companions who often only had std tires.

There have been interesting (but very sad) studies done on suicide rates and media influence. Often when a high profile suicide hits the media with in days suicide rates spike. You can look up Werther Effect or Copycat suicide.

My point is that I think when bad things happen they often happen in waves. Bad people are

I dont understand this idea that someone has to first file a complaint... um what? Even if these girls had never come forward why can't those guys still be prosecuted? So according to their laws I can go to New Zealand and murder someone... as long as the victim doesn't complain I am good!

I get the idea that someone might want to know if their new partner has slept around alot but the numbers game is dumb. Also i find it hilarious that one guy may have been with only a few girls for long term and he is considered amateur compared to another dude who has been in a bunch of one night stands. The reality

Shameful reply. Those men work in computer science related field (like myself) and never interact with women. Ever. They are allowed out for food and water + one hour of moonlight (because geeks hate the sun).

I think in most developed nations this is a crime. Even if a person "consents" to have photos of them taken they can not legally until they are of age.... just depends on the country/region to select what that age should be.

I would agree that a pre-college student is unlikely to understand the complexities of Numerical Analysis or Combinatorics... I think the point being made by many is that often schools expect a level of computer knowledge prior to entering into a CS or CE major which makes it difficult for true beginners to compete.

No I wasn't implying I understood computer science as a whole. But having technical knowledge and a basic understanding into core concepts certainly gave me an edge over people coming into CS fresh (regardless of gender identity).

As a computer science major I can attest to this fact. I had been scripting in PHP for a few years and even had landed some contract based jobs by the time I hit my first computer science course. And later in college you would get professors who would say... "I expect you to code everything in C or C++" and yet 90% of

This. As a computer science major and having had previous knowledge going into college it was interesting to see the number of beginners dropping out because of the immense pressure. Though as a man I can't attest to this directly but it seems one of the major reasons for the lack of women in the STEM fields is a

Programming and Development. I would understand testing apps that you programmed on a PC/MAC whatever... but I question the effectiveness of programming on a tablet. Do you at least use a external keyboard?

Duh. If women had full control there would only be chaos! Violence and multiple on going wars. Year over year increases in the inmate population. I can see it now we must keep only men in power! It is the only way...

I wasn't saying that I thought it was laughable. I find it to be a disgusting act but even the article says...

I agree. I am just acknowledging the sensitive nature of questioning another culture. I pointed out in another comment that It is totally possible her society expects her to not make a fuse about it. She could also legitimately not care what this guy did. Either way he is wrong no matter how we label it.

I am not saying it isn't attempted rape. From my perspective it is exactly that. What I am saying is that you have to also consider the societies integrity in every situation. Your potential revelation could destroy the people (probably not in this case) but the idea still stands.

Agreed. It is hard to pull ourselves out of our own ideals and beliefs...

Another commentor brought up a good point though. What if her reaction to the incident was expected of her? Perhaps she did feel it was a violation but her society expected her to not make a big deal of it?

Rape is a uniquely human idea. Furthermore this idea is compounded by societal factors which don't always translate across different cultures. Just like we can't say a male orangutan has raped a female orangutan (this is more accurately described as forced copulation and does not hold the same weight within their
