There was a twitter from a while back called "anti racism dog" wherein the person would tweet people "bark bark bark" if they said "I'm not a racist but..." or some combination of those words. Those people then had to confront how their words were actually racist. I'd watch the shit out of a documentary that did

This dress + white couch really scared the shit out of me for a second.

The real joke is that we even have to have this discussion in the first place, that the status quo takes precedence over equality, where the ranting of pissed off church moms matters more than being fair. It is 2014 and we are still doing this.

Fun fact: My dad is a super-conservative, anti-gay pastor. He got me the very first The Sims when I was ten years old. He then proceeded to make a bunch of sims himself and have two women flirt with each other because, in his words, "I didn't expect anything to actually happen."

Relationships are not just a feature of this game; they are the singular point of this game. Tomodachi means "friend" and some friends in the game get into serious relationships and get married, just like in real life.

Yeah it's a such a joke asking for pop culture to reflect the diversity of the audience. I take your point that economics should be factored in, but on the other hand, companies like this are always looking to "diversify their market share" in order to appeal to the widest possible demographic. That's capitalism: the

Grand Theft Auto features many, many illegal things. But NOT GAY MARRIAGE FOR THAT WOULD BE TOO ILLEGAL.

So allowing for diverse representations that represent the diversity of the world is the same as forbidding it entirely? That doesn't really hold together.

Er. Because people *don't* have the freedom to live their lives? Many many people live under oppressive regimes of intolerance and threat of physical and emotional harm (ie the West). They don't get to walk down the street holding the hands of their partner without somebody yelling "fag" or whatever.

I can't live my life how I want when I can't marry a consenting adult that I love the same way you can. -_-

Why are you so threatened by the gay community asking Nintendo to consider putting a feature in? Are you this vocal about any other change that gamers suggest? If I asked for Nintendo to consider adding Squirtle as a Super Smash Brothers character, would you complain about me pushing my pro-Squirtle agenda on

Part of normalizing "diversity" is fighting for it. Waiting for it to happen means it will never happen

Basic civil rights aren't an "agenda." They're a cornerstone of our society.

That's kind of a myopic way to look at it. I understand if you want to get the game anyways, but pointing out that you don't care because it doesn't directly affect isn't really necessary.

a. "WHY DOESN'T SNL HAVE BLACK WOMEN?"

It's funny you say that, considering SNL used to be considered ground zero for edgy material. Now it's blander than Jay Leno most of the time.

Wow. Someone with a personality on SNL. That told a joke whose punchline you didn't see coming from a mile away. Please, fire her immediately.

Maybe the gauge of an effective joke is not whether or not it passes the test of groupthink orthodoxy? Did the people laugh at the time? That's the measure of a joke, not whether everyone was sufficiently undisturbed by it. Good for her, push the fucking envelope and eschew groupthink.

White people offended at black person telling jokes about slavery. Moving on.

I didn't see the show and can't watch the video but....
