Hearts. Is there a possibility luxury cars can have appropriate engines again instead of rash-sounding, peaky four cylinders? They are fine in a WRX. The noise is disconcerting in an E-Class.

You are my goddamned hero.
I hate SUV’s. And this is sexy. I’m still waiting for Lincoln to make something that can replace the four or five Town Cars I had in college through my mid-20's. The Continental is close...but doesn’t quite do it. Room in the front, especially for a 6'3" person for long legs, is a little lacking. Ugh. This stupid…
Yes, but occasionally the MMR (Mannheim report) will be WAY off what average asking price is. This will usually be the case for a rarer car or something that is in high retail demand. The dealer, in order to make deals, will sway from MMR on a trade in if it appears the market can support the purchase.
That is absolutely correct.
This is the same situation for AMC Eagles. You have a car that is getting rarer and rarer, and I go on one of the Eagle pages on Facebook and all I see are guys switching to solid axles, lifting, taking off the factory trim, and basically destroying perfectly good cars that should be preserved. Jeeps are the same way.
It’ll be interesting to see how, with all of the electronics and what not, what this car will feel like in 20 years. (Full disclosure: I sell Benz’s). My 1993 R129 still feels as solid at 25 years old as my W205 coupe does brand new. And that car is a PITA to keep up...I wonder what the new ones will be like......
On all other Mercedes models, you are correct. On an S, you can get both.
I’ve always been impressed with the structural prowess of those things.
My 1985 AMC Eagle. She is soon due for some fab work from 32 Ohio winters, but I’ve had to her to Northern Michigan, NYC, Gettysburg, and multiple runs to Detroit. While I’ve had this car I’ve had: two Lincoln Town Cars, an F-150, and two Mercedes C-Class coupes. I’ll have it forever. *****—this is THE best car I’ve…
Not sure which I’ll take. But they are both equally fun. The Eagle can hold a tree on its roof though....
Oh, what a shocker....people need that additional money to make an EV seem worthwhile? I can’t seem to contain my amazement.....
I own an Eagle. If I had all the money I’ve put into mine, which still looks like a $1500 car, I could buy this. Hence, why I think it is worth it. They are great cars, and while I’d be skeptical to drive this in the winter because of how nice it is....when NEOhio weather gets really bad, my 4Matic C300 stays in the…
I LOVED my Mark VII. I had an LSC, and it is an old car that doesn’t drive like an old car. They corner well, have reasonable quick steering, are roomy enough, and were assembled to a degree with materials Fords weren’t known for in later years.
They are that good. I had an ‘87 LSC. Best seats EVER...but could use an inch or two more legroom (I’m 6'3 with a 35" inseam). Really well put together too...especially for an older American car.
My AMC Eagle has all similar quirks, and with the exception of the actual fun-to-drive quotient, I completely understand.
So years ago, I bought my first dedicated winter beater. Not because my new car was great or anything...just that I didn’t like the way it handled in the snow (Camry’s kinda suck...I had a new SE at the time...I just barfed a little thinking about it). So....I scoured the internet and bought an AMC Eagle. Since I…
“The take rate for the C and CLA is supposedly over 80%, while the take rate on the S class is under 10%.”
Who wouldn’t want a car named after a gun??
“The car might be cheap, babe, but it’s the 80's and it shows people we too enjoy cocaine.”
