CarMax’s reply was correct, and it shows how screwed up the recall process is. For example, they may have sold a handful of Mercedes-Benz’s with unfixed Takata airbags. Why is this ok? The parts aren’t available yet, even to a Mercedes-Benz dealer. Which, unfortunately, sort of makes this article a non-issue, even

I’ve worked at the same dealership for 13 years. I started as a porter at 16, and worked Toyota sales for five years before getting transferred to our company’s Mercedes store, where I have been for six years. Yes, there is a lot of turnover. And, yes, training can be laughable. But, some people just get it. It is NOT

So, Ohio is a No Helmet state. While when you look it up it says there are SOME helmet laws, the actual law only states you have to wear one while you have your temps and your first year with an endorsement. So, helmet free world. I’ve been paying a lot more attention to this since I finally, finally bought my first

Did they happen to tell you when it is supposed to be released? MB won’t tell dealers......

I love Doug, but old, American cars are obviously not his forte. ANYONE who has ever driven a car prior to the early 80's knows of the foot mounted high-beam switch and manual mirrors. Very common, if not standard-place.

I think you should be able to use a car however you may wish. I know Brooklyn well, and cars take a beating there. That’s ok. However, I think....as car people, you should still respect the CARE that went into the car. That doesn’t mean its going to be perfect and not have dents, etc. But, old cars take more care than

Hell, I would. I LOVE these! I’ve had, like, five Lincoln Town Cars/Continentals of wildly varying generations. My 88 was my favorite next to my 07, and the Mark VI’s are even more delightfully garish than the Towns...LOVE!

The automakers fail to mention the amount of investment they’ve made toward having to comply with Obama-era CAFE standards...wouldn’t want to squander that.......

Is that Acura trying to reenact ‘The Love Bug’......because I’m pretty sure that is how Herbie tried to kill himself (itself....?).

You know what’s interesting, though? The press was GAGA about this car when it came out. And, they also printed that GM killed the most desirable lineup in their umbrella.

I actually think the two-door is kind of sexy. Eeeek.......?

And NONE of those newer cars have as much room as their fore-bearers.

I paid less than that for my house. Granted, I paid $60k for it and there is a $50k Mercedes in the driveway. Priorities.

I honestly thought it was taken off your taxable income. I.E. You make $77,500 and there is a $7500 tax credit, your taxable income now goes to $70,000 (not including any other deductions, obviously.)

An R129. Because the 90's is forever. And, its still a helluva nice car to drive.

I know about this. And, I agree with the general consensus. However, it is neat to work to save otherwise unloved cars. My AMC EAgle is ugly and ungainly, but I keep it mechanically A-1 so if I do have sell it, it can go to someone who appreciates them and not someone trying to one-off an XJ.

Fun comparison. This comes from the person who regularly switches between a 2017 C300 Coupe, a 1993 500 SL, and a 1985 AMC Eagle whos subframe was welded from another car and has had more lives than a radioactive cat.

Having owned many older, big cars...A) I cannot believe I didn’t make this comparison. B) It is very, very true. As far as “passenger luxury” (space, comfort, ease of entry, ride), the older car really does a better job. Someone below made the case of the Continental vs Continental. I haven’t driven a new Continental,

For what their intended purpose....offering a wagon with the capabilities of an SUV....the old girl can still do it.

Hands down, my AMC Eagle. It has had nearly every conceivable thing happen that can happen to a car...but I’ve now owned it for almost six years and put 40,000 miles on it (and its supposed to be an “extra” car).......
