This is s very fair critique of the recap. I love Laurie, and I wanted to explore what bring her back at this juncture meant for her character and for the show. Next week I’ll focus more on what’s on the screen. Thanks for taking the time to read it.

As a huge ‘Watchmen’ fan, this episode was THE GREATEST. And yet I dislike the approach of this review. It leans way too much on prior knowledge of the comic instead of addressing what’s actually onscreen.

I agree. I don’t think it’s that simple. He seems like he truly loved the Abar family. My thought: he was indoctrinated and ready to kill right up until he had his gun pointed at Angela’s head, which is when he realized he couldn’t go through with it. I’m 99% sure that Judd was the guy who shot Angela.

It’s not crazy at all! Something I missed, but was highlighted on Twitter is that Adrian’s castle and the structure Manhattan built on Mars look exactly the same. 

You’re right. Watchmen isn’t going to let anything be that easy. But knowing the history of the KKK and the police - this reveal tells me that at the very least, the good old boy still hold sway over law enforcement, and that alone is terrifying. 

Just one thing to add: im still not convinced the chief IS crooked. The kkk outfit isnt his...its definitely his fathers or grandfather’s based on the framed picture.

Gonna hard disagree on that one.  The level of ominous tension that the soundtrack is bringing to the show suits the dark themes perfectly.

I like the way it both calls back to the time period that fundamentally changed this society, and harkens back to a near future where tech could over power those who’ve spent so much time fearing it.

No, it's actually not.  You can choose to have your organization not take official stances on political issues,  irrespective of whether people in that organization feel and/or vote a certain way. 

Supporting the status quo is literally taking a conservative position.

Not that this idea is new or anything, but one more time for the people in the back: stating that you are not / don’t want to be political is very much taking a political position.
