What happened 41 years ago?
It might say it gets good fuel economy, but it didn’t compared to its foreign competition. A Gremlin was just a shortened/chopped Hornet, and like all the American subcompacts of the time, got absolutely abysmal fuel economy.
Since they don’t sell advertising, they need to make money somehow to keep the operation running.
I didn’t even know cars that slow were sold in the US anymore.
They have an optional bigger engine now that while not exactly fast isn’t slow either.
At least you have a fast Camry.
Yup, the subcontractor law is evil, and why a lot of formerly middleclass jobs no longer are.
I’m so old, I remember when Jack in the Box was a much crappier McDonald’s with onion rings and a drive thru. They are much better now, but really, outside of their greasy ass tacos and potato wedges, no real reason to go there.
I’m having my doubts you actually were in the military.
You’d be surprised what a pain in the ass it can be in some cars.
Americans hate change, and can not be convinced to put up a serious investment now to save money later. American government is mostly about kicking the can down to future generations and letting them deal with the repercussions.
When it stops running.
I can’t speak for New York, but here in St. Louis, about a year into Covid, a lot of people started driving with their high beams on for whatever reason, and it’s still going on now. Never was a problem until then.
That’s because it it. Change is scary, and more importantly costs money. We’d much rather kick the can down to someone else to deal with later.
Yes, but those cost money, and Americans are cheap.
It can be worse. We were in Germany in 1973, in a fairly small town and we were out somewhat late because of car issues after the town basically shut down. At some point in the evening, the lights STOPPED CHANGING. We were at a red light for several minutes before my dad gave up and just started going through them.
It’s simple. A lot of that is American cheapness and refusal to change. All that stuff you brag about in Britain wasn’t there when I was a kid decades ago. When I was a kid, American roads were much safer than European roads, now it’s the opposite because Europeans actively try to improve things, while Americans…
After 58 years on this planet, not in education, me as well.
I haven’t lived in CA for over 40 years, but we called it the 405, and it ran only a few hundred feet from the house, even though the nearest on ramp was well over a mile away.
