You know, the more I think about this, I can see it working. While the people in the “Cars” corner of the internet will complain about something like this, the general public doesn’t give a flying fuck about the brand value. They’ll see this and think “Oh hey, the Mustang. I know that name. They’re sporty and cool

Hot take- the name is fine, and I’m really looking forward to driving one. Joe Consumer doesn’t think anything less of a Mustang because of this, and no one is going to mistake the two. People in the know will just roll eyes and drop the Mustang and call it the Mach E.

I can't wait for the Ford Mustang Ecosport, the Ford Mustang Escape, the Ford Mustang Edge, the Ford Mustang Explorer, the Ford Mustang Transit, the Ford Mustang Transit Connect, the Ford Mustang F150, the Ford Mustang F150 Raptor, and the Ford Mustang Mustang.

So Chrysler built up lots of inventory right before they knew they would be negotiating with the union. That’s a horrible idea and certainly not what GM did and definitely would not provide leverage in negotiations or help them weather a strike. Nope, they’re a bunch of idiots.

FCA is working on a new contract with UAW while a merger/sale with PCA is pending. UAW is coming off a long strike which affected GM’s production. FCA builds inventory ahead of those contract negotiations... coincidence?

1st Gear: Wait, wasn’t it a few years back where they were getting in trouble for counting these kinda cars as being sold already? But now it’s not that they’re being counted as sold, but rather propping up factory numbers to close a merger.

How much time can a human being spend in a service lounge?

If Chrysler is stacking the cars deep, they should be selling them cheap.

the future of an EV jaguar/land rover seems like a non-starter - but that has never hurt them in the past

Yeah, curious to see how the bottom might fall out of these in the future.  They just don’t feel like they can keep that kind of value in the long run.  Sure there will still be some prime collector examples like any car, but these just don’t seem unique enough.

“Japan wants you to stop buying its GT-Rs”

DEY TOOK OUR CARRRRRSSSSS.

When Nissan send their cars, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending cars that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing CVT. They’re bringing mediocrity. They’re Rogues. And none, I assume, are good cars.

150 billion yen.... not dollars. That’s about $1.37B USD.

Yen, not dollars.

The existence of the Nissan Kicks already told me that Nissan was in shambles. Nevermind that garbage they’re trying to pass off as a Maxima. Or that the R35 has been around almost as long as the R32, R33 and R34 put together. Do I even need to bring up the Z?

Eh,

because neither of them have invested in new (let alone exciting) cars since 2 fast 2 furious?

1st gear. This is what happens when you rest on your laurels. If you make products just good enough, then why would someone buy them? I would buy a comparable Korean car 100 times over anything Nissan is selling right now.

Nissan and Mitsubishi are such a perfect pairing.
