I watched Joe Versus The Volcano recently and really liked it. Dare I say it’s my favorite of the Hanks/Ryan collaborations. Doesn’t really have anything to do with this article. Just wanted to share. Carry on.

We have Green Goop: a can of crushed pineapple, a box of pistachio pudding mix, a bag of mini marshmallows, and whipped topping. If you’re fancy you stud the top with maraschino cherries. Someone ALWAYS brings it, and it almost always gets eaten.
and gigantic plot holes becoming impossible chasms with the stuff from the new movies and shows keep stapling onto the rotting corpse of the skywalker legacy.
On the upside, the use of miniatures means the scenes that today would be poorly aged CG garbage are still excellent. But you aren’t wrong, the acting is pretty mediocre by today’s standards, and the pacing as well feels outdated.
It is such an exacting parody that you really have to see what it did there with every reference to old B&W movies. Might as well be in Latin these days.
All hail the pink cloud!!
you need to switch to golden yukons and use the good butter
Agreed; Brother Day has basically spent decades trying to clean up Brother Dusk’s mess, here. Very interested to see where this goes in the final episodes of the season.
What? He was awesome as super bitchy Thranduil. And he brought the exact right mix of arrogance and stupidity for Ronan IMO.
No, she mentioned the Mule in her opening monologue. At the time it made no sense to me as that was centuries into the future. But she’s got a traveling deep freeze, so she and Hari’s ghost can be our constants.
I mentioned above, for me there’s a couple different elements. For starters, I can listen to most of that music and never think about the problematic elements (although there are some songs I definitely skip quickly), but Ender’s Game was really tainted for me, specifically because there were bits in the book that…
I’m amused by people saying they came late to Harry Potter meaning they first encountered the series in their teens. I first encountered it in my late 30s, when I had a child who had just gotten old enough to ask me to read it to her. Later that year the Order of the Phoenix movie came out, and after that, the final…
I agree with your choice but just because turkey just doesn’t taste good. There’s a reason we don’t often roast a turkey and that’s because there are way better food choices out there.
not co-signing, but just wanted to mention something semi-related:
alternatives have gotten pretty tasty! there are some decent meatless options out there these days; i liked Quorn’s “turkey” the most, i think. nice if you want to try something new, or just reduce meat consumption.
On the subject of people pissed off about the last couple seasons of GOT, I just re-watched the whole show, and to my surprise they were actually quite good. I’m being 100% serious right now; I kept waiting for it to get to the point where it would start to suck, but I enjoyed it right down to the finale. Yes, I will…
I can understand that but In Rainbows could maybe possibly be their best album. Very pretty and melodic and more traditionally. Hail to Thief is also a good and underrated. It’s a nice blend of more guitar based songs and they’re more experimental stuff. Some of it even rocks
It’s maybe the simplest, purest pop song they’ve ever put out—even “High and Dry,” which is about as poppy as the band gets, has some odd, ethereal elements pulling at the seams. Here, it’s just an acoustic guitar and Thom Yorke singing in a classic-rock register.
