My fave thing about Rabban is that he’s secretly the most competent Harkonnen in the first book. Of course, no one’s looking for that, let alone himself because he was raised as the “dumb & ugly” one.

Count me in that opening weekend for Dune. Money well spent. This is a film you’ve got to see in theaters. If you’re worried about covid, try finding an offpeak hours (weekday) screening or something. You don’t want to miss it. It’s epic and gorgeous

The part of me that loves Planes, Trains, and Automobiles wants to disagree with you but... you’re not wrong. Even that movie is pretty unkind. I would argue it’s saved by the dynamic between the two leads, but what’s good about it isn’t the story.

I don’t know who you’re talking about, but this GenX-er (and everyone she knows) has always known that Blazing Saddles is a work of satirical genius.

I could definitely argue about at least some of these but it’s really not worth the time...

I kind of disagree with The Last Samurai, it’s not really a typical “white savior” type movie. It may look like if you haven’t seen it though. It’s really about a warrior, Ken Watanabe, seeing part of himself in a fellow warrior, Tom Cruise, in this case enemy.  And that other warrior, Tom Cruise, finally being able

All in the Family was a groundbreaking comedy. We could laugh at people with different views while learning things about society. The kiss from Sammy Davis Jr. is gold.

I swear by Alton brown's recipe. Though I can never get the onions right, the mushroom sauce is that shit.

I am constantly amazed at the ability of lifehacker writers to make a listical out of a one sentence topic:

Years ago Paul released a live album in which he flipped the credits of Beatles songs to “McCartney/Lennon” instead of “Lennon/McCartney” claiming that he and John had agreed years ago that they would flip the credits after a certain period of time had elapsed. Nobody believed him.

No, but they’ve brought it up, and he’s always answered. I see nothing wrong with it. It’s a fact. This reporter said McCartney broke them up, and he said, “No. John did.” I honestly don’t get the problem. He’s not raking John over the coals, and he’s been singing the guy’s praises as an artist for decades now. Lennon

In the twilight of his life Paul has come off as very concerned about his Beatles legacy. In interviews in the past 10 - 20 years he has gone out of his way to point out his specific contributions...”I wrote that bit”...”The medley was MY idea”...etc.

Your take is spot on. McCartney’s account jibes pretty well with what we know about Lennon’s attitudes in ‘69. I have no doubt it was Lennon who actually pulled the trigger on the Beatles, though I think everybody but McCartney was ready to cut ties at that point.

This isn’t really shocking news to any deep Beatles fan.

It’s his trademark uniform. Like Colonel Sanders’ white suit which was also many decades if not a century out of date. Do you want to see the 2021 Colonel Sanders in a track suit and backwards Skoal cap? The answer is— surprisingly— yes. Yes I do.

Contrary to this review and you, I found this episode a much needed pick me up from last week’s dour tablesetting. Of course a TV show has to zoom in and focus on a small set of characters. That’s a given.

Loving this show and glad that it got another season, as many media critics have been somewhat harsh against it. Yes, it does not follow the books, but if it did, nobody would watch it, for several reasons: First, Asimov’s greatest talent was ideas, and from a time when sci-fi was mostly about presenting mind
