best headline i’ve seen about this story, full stop.
yeah, i thought it was my adblocker software, but if i persist enough with clicking on all the things, sometimes i can get mine to work.
Hey!
it’s a slow burner, but i like it. i know that every popular thing has its group of haters, but i don’t get the hate for Ellish. at least she’s doing her own thing and clearly singing herself, instead of the sameness of most of pop music these days, with all the singers autotuned into similar-sounding wallpaper.
when he was younger, yes, he grew up in a well-off family, but from the time he was out on his own as a teenager he routinely lived among the poorest of the poor and voluntarily lived like they did to understand their plight. he crawled into mines with miners, he lived in the worst parts of cities, and borrowed money…
well, to be fair, there’s a lot more years between medieval times and van gogh than between van gogh and us in the early 21st century. their understanding of nutrition wasn’t *that* different then than ours is now. it’s just that van gogh was frequently so poor all he could afford to eat for days at a time was coffee…
having been to citizenship ceremonies, i can attest that it is really, really damn moving to experience. it makes you believe in the country and its ideals.
they seem pretty terrible to me. they certainly aren’t doing Bernie any favors, if that’s their goal.
i don’t know, but it’s gone and i am sad.

that Smithsonian exhibit was fantastic. and yeah, the Spearchucker nickname definitely didn’t age well, but i’ll also say that the character *owned* that name. when they called him that, i never felt that they was talking down to him in any way — he was clearly an equal.
i was hoping to avoid going there, but thank you. i should’ve just looked. it’s pretty much what i suspected.
...BDE?
do they still make Accent brand seasoning? i’m pretty sure that’s just MSG.
well, huh. being a mac user, i know lots of other mac users, and i get asked mac-related questions all the time... i swear nobody has mentioned that myth for about 10 years, unless they were windows users who were new to macs. but i guess it does still happen — it’s just crazy how persistent that idea is in the face…
waitaminnit, how in the hell does the Lord of the Rings not qualify, but the first Godfather book does? it’s just as much an integral part to its series of books as say, The Fellowship of the Ring is to LOTR.
A martini? “Kitschy”? I say GOOD DAY to you, Madam!
[FTA]: “As for Mac users, the common convention is to shrug your shoulders and smile at your Windows brethren—Macs don’t get viruses, after all. Right?”
well if he does, he’s earned them. he’s my age, and he still has the chops. i don’t know how he does it -- he still takes some BRUTAL falls.
