I’ve heard of quite a few Renaults self-accelerating (a turbo failure feeds the lubricating oil into the admission, and with a diesel engine you can’t stop it by cutting the ignition ; btw everything is mechanically connected on these cars), but not so many Teslas.

Why was that? Were the doors wedged shut (as can happen to any car) or were they unable to open the doors because Tesla won’t install actual door handles?

Why would you assume that? I mean it could be, but it could also be the 70 year old just hit the accelerator and panicked like many old people do. If it was anything but a Tesla, that would be the likely assumption, right?

The power isn’t the issue. It’s the modifications required to make something close to what is basically a roadgoing FIA GT3 car.

Making the power on a dyno is easy. Making the power for extended periods on track is a very different story.
