Pretty sure Subaru is the one making all the GR86s. They’re all done together with BRZs at Subaru’s Gunma plant. Toyota won’t be able to continue making the GR86 if they just ditch Subaru when all they’re doing is making some final adjustments and sticking on their badges.
If you line them up side by side the Zonda still looks by far the best of the three cars.
Any pics of what the damage to the plane (and car) looked like? Sounds pretty minor from the inside. Like the sound a car would make hitting a pothole.
It doesn’t make Broken-Aero wrong. Both Felix Baumgartner and Alan Eustace’s jumps were indeed done from giant helium balloons that took them up to the edge of space. Both men went supersonic on the way down with a confirmed sonic boom.

Clicked “show more” to read the rest of the post and was taken to one of the stupidest discussions online with one guy arguing that an impact spread across the entire width of a car is practically the same as hitting a pole which concentrates all that energy on a narrow part.
Crash compatibility is definitely still a problem. In the past year I’ve read I think two stories (not USA) of street racing teenagers/young adults meet an untimely death after plowing into the back of a huge truck.
Disqualifying a car with an overly worn plank is common sense. It would be crazier and unfair to all the other competitors if the governing body didn’t DQ them.
Still, ATC did not make a mistake. This was most likely down to the UH-60 pilot looking at the wrong aircraft.
Living in a country with > 100% taxes on cars, I’m pretty sure 25% won’t break your backs.
They also decided to keep multiple factories pumping out thousands of motorcycles that clearly weren’t selling anymore.
The high tension towers look reasonably intact, if somewhat singed in those pictures. I guess this might have been caused by high winds causing the wires to sway and come closer to each other than designed?
So not totally unreasonable because you can reason your way out of it. =)
I recall watching an interview with Guntherwerks about their 993 and it was mentioned that the tiny bits and bobs like the lights and indicators were among the most expensive pieces to build.
Even more impressive is how it stealth it looks when it’s folded in. I wouldn’t think it was anything other than the typical roll hoop.
