I disagree. If there’s one thing that mobs of dissatisfied unemployed humans are good at making, it’s lots of explosions.

Didn’t even know he produced that. A masterpiece, and definitely an album I listen to a whole lot more than In Utero or Songs About Fucking

This is such a great movie, and I only learned about it thanks to reading that AVC 2008 Year in Film article. Firefly memes aside, learning about stuff like this was the best part of the old AVC.

I would love to see a Tarsem Silver Surfer movie

Four score and twenty years ago, our forefathers landed upon Cop Rock

Good to know, thanks.

I like turn-based tactics, and I might be a bit masochistic, so I did what you suggested not to do after finishing the show and booted up Fallout 1 for the first time. It was indeed a bit of a slog! I’ve gotten a few hours into it, and I’ve mostly been killed by scorpions while trying to walk places. Fun!

He was iconic. He’s remembered for so much, and he was talented in ways he isn’t even remembered for.

“Blow up the door!” .... “No, wait, not like that!”

Yeah, definitely an age thing. He could do stately perfectly well, I just always miss the manic energy in his earlier roles. I feel like Throne of Blood hit the perfect balance. He gets to be a king, but also seriously unhinged, and, at the end, delightfully panicky.

Ninjas aren’t known for their follow through, apparently.

I read them as a false flash-forward, a vision of what he’s ultimately letting go by accepting his place in Toranaga’s retinue.

Yeah, but Yabushige is a sicko about death. He seems to have lots of weird ideas about it.

Yabushige was a great character, and Asano Tadanobu did a fantastic job with the portrayal. I thought he evoked a lot of early Mifune with some of his choices, but also found a surprisingly sensitive angle on the character.

All that the wikipedia entry indicates is that it was clear that Toranaga was the one who had the ship destroyed, which this show made clear as well. Do you think there was more than that?

This was a very good finale. I loved the cliffside scene with Toranaga and Yabushige.

It really had no bearing on how I felt about the movie (didn't love, because of how it treated certain character beats in the climax; performances were almost all great though)

Obra Dinn was such a great game. I did kind of wish that the storyline had gotten just a tiny bit more work, which might have made it a complete masterpiece, but the immersive thoroughness of the graphics and the design plus the fevered intensity you get as you head towards finishing all the puzzles was just fantastic.
