Perhaps. But some religious fundies named Dave like, say, David Koresh might get a bit of attention, ultimately.

Well, to be fair, did people even have to travel that far back in the day? Without cars and planes, unless you were in the military or worked at sea, what was the furthest people usually traveled during their lifetimes?

The colors in trees look off to me at times, but I wonder if that’s just because I’m partially color blind.

We’re all just living in a Matrix-like simulation anyway. So technically, none of us even exist in the first place.

Ah, Suede... there’s a few good tunes there. I only heard about them in the US when I read UK publication reviews comparing other songs to theirs.

Sixth Avenue Heartache, One Headlight, Heroes, Three Marlenas, The Difference... they had at least five songs that got a TON of airplay in the mid-to-late 90's.

I’ll second this. It’s a shame he hasn’t released more stuff in recent years (although I hear he is recording an album of covers). But his two solo releases had some really great songs on there.

Oh man, I remember that one too! That’s quintessential 80s right there. Yeah, she probably had at least more than two hits here, now that I think about it.

I don’t blame you. I didn’t even connect the two for awhile after I heard Can’t Get You Out of My Head for the first time! Locomotion was everywhere when I was very young.

Love it! I do like Pandora for that sort of thing too, although you sometimes have to crawl through the weeds, so to speak, before you find the random good songs you’ve never heard before. I’ve discovered a few that way through my on-and-off use of it over the years (and, more recently, Spotify’s Discover Weekly

Great tune for sure. You AV Clubbers have me wondering if I should delve into the rest of his catalog at some point too, considering all the other songs of his being rattled off.

What Would Happen still holds up today, for sure. I’d even argue she’s a “two-hit wonder” there since that song was pretty prominent back in 1997-98 too.

Oh, they remember it. I’d be shocked if over half of the AV Club didn’t remember it either!

Run Away With Me would be a good pick. Heck, even the slightly lesser stuff like Your Type, which copped the Don’t Stop Believin’ chord progression, sounded pleasant enough.

There’s a few decent songs on there, yeah. So I’d agree there.

I remember This Time Around getting a fair amount of MTV and radio play in 2000 too.

I’d say both Locomotion and Can’t Get You Out of My Head would give her two hits here. Maaaaaaybe Love at First Sight as well.

Singing in My Sleep, Secret Smile, This Will Be My year... agreed.

Right. Expanding on what I said in another comment, there has to be some sort of distinction between “band that had one major, major hit” and “one-hit wonder whose rest of the back catalog is known to very, very few people.” Devo and Franz Ferdinand, for example, are definitely not in the later on a similar level with
