Duuude. And we were doing so well. Re-read, and check for cynicism this time.

What? No, he’s not dead. I keep seeing him in movie after movie.

I couldn’t agree more!

Better yet, let’s offer Mitsubishi a pickup truck in exchange for resurrecting the EVO.

Yeah, what the hell can a tree do?

I think the F-150 has made its way to other parts of the globe. There should be some kind of NAFTA deal, where if we send a cool car model outside our borders, we get to pick one from somewhere else to bring in.

Hell, the rest of the world gets our good stuff. They get Mustangs, Corvettes and the like. Hell, they really rub it in when Ford makes and sells RS models in Europe, before they even do that here!

To each their own. I could live with the floating screen, but I still feel it falls short of proper Gestalt. Audi at least mitigates things with the cool retractable design.

Sadly, two things going against that being sold in the States: 1) Diesel 2) Wagon

Sorry, I can’t help you out. But good luck with your random arguments in the future.

I’ve driven a relative’s new GLA AMG quite a bit in the past few months. I’ll tell you what; THAT thing may be my next new car purchase. It’s truly the hottest of hot hatches. But...that price. It puts it so far into the price point of so many very nice things. But again, almost none of those things are as all-around

Your screen name...let me guess about your objectivity...

We also have plenty of cars. I’m just not the type of person who is ever content with anything only serving one purpose. That’s just me. You should have seen the crap I used to try and carry when I used to ride sport bikes...

Huh? The Tundra is one of the most sold full-sized trucks. Not much room for subjectivity in the facts. I should have just skipped saying “major” and just said everyone by Nissan. Point being, Ford, GM, Fiat & Toyota all compete head-on in that catagory.

I like to be able to do an entire variety of things with whatever car I’m driving. So, no mitigating that with a tiny roadster. Further, while I’m not the largest guy in the world, I am tall enough and I have broad shoulders. Driving a car like the S2000 or Miata simply feels way too small for my comfort.

Not that I’m in the market, but I would be interested to see a Jalop super-head-to-head between all the major full-size trucks. Second to SUV’s, it’s the most competitive and lucrative segment for all the makers. You can get those reviews in MT, C&D and the like, but those are some of the most ad-biased publications

That’s just it. It’s not that I don’t appreciate light and nimble. But that’s always subjective. For me, cars like the Miata give up 95% of what I prefer, in trade for 5% of something I don’t have need to place value on quite enough. I even owned the more Miata than a Miata - the S2000. I found it fun, but quickly

But you’re missing the point. That very screen does more than Nav (on all cars, not just MBZ). So, no matter what, that physical feature exists in essentially all cars, regardless of whether they have the actual nav feature.

But you can’t, and would not want to delete the display. Manufacturers wisely moved into that common “core” design years ago. No reason to have two totally different pieces of manufacturing, like in the old days. But again, there is also no reason for these screens to be poorly designed into the dash.

I’ll take the modern electro baggage for luxury and real performance. But I’m already on record saying I’m in no way the kind of person who likes the Miata. But hell, even your Miata now has a tacked-on iPad display. Ain’t never going away...
