Yes, very true. I’m trying to say that the communications specification defines many message types that aren’t currently being utilized. Many of these message aren’t relevant yet, because most of our vehicles aren’t equipped with the right technology (LiDAR sensors, cameras, DSRC radios).
What’s a good R/T? Signals often broadcast their timing info every tenth of a second... that would be the worst case R/T if the car was programmed to immediately launch when it received a “green light” message.
You’ve got it backwards: this is I2V (infrastructure to vehicle). The traffic signal is telling the car it’s current state and an expected duration for that state. V2I would be the car reporting information about the car’s current state to the signal.
