The senior engineer at my firm is brilliant, has multiple advanced degrees, and four children. She told me that at her previous job, people would sneer if she had to leave unexpectedly because of a child emergency but the CEO of the company had “dad” as his Twitter bio and got endless accolades for the bare minimum of

“Discrimination and family-unfriendly policies are among the causes, but research has suggested another influence: “The returns to working long, inflexible hours have greatly increased” in this “winner-take-all economy.”

I promise you, they won’t care and if anything, they’ll weaponize it.

But, like, you are for real an influencer. You’re a regular commenter here, and one I respect, and if you recommended a book, movie, or whatever, I would probably check it out. All professional “influencing” is is people who have built a trusting following sharing their opinions, the kind of things we all do for free

Hey, share that handle!!! I will follow and re-gram the hell out of it.

Not sure that these people are inclined to be swayed by “statistics” and “reality”.

“Bless your heart” is a polite way to say “go fuck yourself” but other than appealing to the clapback-hungry denizens of Twitter, it doesn’t do anything to drive a conversation forward or put McCain in her place with facts. That said, McCain is a giant, gross troll and if Omar gives her any kind of legitimacy by

The Venn Diagram of white supremacists and people who follow Ilhan Omar is two circles. What a gross and disingenuous argument.

This may be shocking to some people, but you can love yourself even if you have diabetes and arthritis and your weight affects your health. Body positivity and health are only at odds for people who associate fatness with health problems. More than that, you can love yourself in your current state while seeking to

10/10 great comment.

Awwww, did someone spill something on your neatly tucked-in Polo shirt? TBH, if my parents had startup money, I would have taken it. Unfortch for us, we had to beg strangers for money and eat a lot of beans but at least we didn’t have to wear khakis! I spent many years in this “real world” you allude to and I find

I love it when bootlickers try to teach others how to be a better bootlicker. Hard pass, kid. I’m on the board. We don’t have a dress code for anyone. You wear what you feel most confident in. If you hire adults, you don’t need to tell them what they can and cannot wear.

Yeah but this is also very dumb because presumably you are doing work for your client in jeans, you’re just not meeting them in person. So what your office is asking you to do is play arbitrary dress-up, which is patronizing. The lead investor in my company shows up to board meetings in his cycling outfit, full sweat.

Not comparing you the individual, this isn’t about you. Jesus. What T-3 school did you matriculate from so I can make sure to never recruit there. People should treat contracts the same way businesses do -- strategically default, renegotiate, bail, etc.

What....... is....... your....... point.......

Last year, 15% of Harvard admitted students were Black but a lot of them chose to go somewhere else - the 2018 freshman class 9% Black.

Honestly she made so many stupid fucking “points” that have been picked over by other commenters, you should just read the threads? You sound like you spend a lot of time on libertarian Reddit and I would rather chew glass than hash out what the adults in the room are already seeing. BAI!

Whose reality? Her imaginary, myopic reality that ignores basic economic principles?

Not quite. Jezebel has a definite point of view. Whether you agree with the editorial direction or not, there is one. Skimm’s editorial slant is a “both sides” dystopia.

Oh just to be clear, I haven’t read these and it’s not really my thing, although no judgment, of course. I just can totally see the appeal of reading something like this if you have weird ideas about romance/BDSM/adult relationships.
