Highlighting your most successful students is just kinda basic marketing, and that’s on the school. It doesn’t make the learning inherently without value. 

When I played college sports, our coaches were not allowed to hang out with us/go out with us unless it was a school-sanctioned, planned event. 

But people don’t go to “art school” to become rich. They pursue theater school, conservatory, fine arts, etc to hone their craft, learn from and be critiqued by teachers and peers, and have dedicated time to learn their trade. I’d posit that very few “art school” students are expecting to strike it rich as flautists…

To do background on a client with my old firm, I did a deep dive into their social media presence and found a post advertising a sale on baby formula. I’ve never seen people be so intensely vicious to one another. I’m sorry you went through that and glad your kiddo is doing great.

Corporations break and change contracts all the time when the terms are no longer convenient or profitable to them. Corporations also get sold, consolidate, and file for bankruptcy protection when it’s a good business decision. You fully intended to pay and things have changed and it’s not some deep moral dilemma…

FWIW, you can’t do that anymore, either. Personal bankruptcy rules were changed in 2005-2006 and it’s not much more difficult to declare and get out from under any debt.

People who couch it as “free stuff” are peak disingenuous and intellectually lazy. 

It might be anecdotal, but in my immediate circle, this is true almost across the board. Most of my friends are in their early to mid thirties and most of them aren’t buying a house/having a baby because their student loan debt repayment is still so high that it takes up a significant chunk of their incomes. 

I can’t drag people kicking and screaming into doing better. That much I know. We (WW) will usually place our discomfort above the needs and lives of Black and POC bodies.

Thank you for taking the time to make this point. I know what you’re referring to and I’m going to take time to think on that. I’m far from a white moderate, but most people around me, and most Americans are, at best, moderates, so I’m not sure how we solve for true progress vs. speed of that progress.
