Basil Poledouris has done some of my FAVORITE scores of all time. Red October was a fucking revelation!

Also it can’t be understated just how spectacular the musical score is for this film. It’s pure orchestral fury. From Mako’s opening monologue to the final drum beat, just beautiful and powerful.

If you can get the DVD, listen to the commentary. It’s fantastic and interesting. But most interesting is Arnie watching the movie and realizing it’s actually a good movie. I think he might have forgotten after Conan 2 and Red Sonja, which were horrible.
