That’s just hearse-ay.

You’re just fanning the controversy now.

Robinson Barracks? Seen some tasty American metal on the roads around there, right enough!

This. Sometimes the right answer is foot down, and get out of that situation. Other times, back off and let whoever it is go and have their inevitable accident somewhere far away from you.

This. When they announced TGT, I was like “well, guess I’ll be getting Prime then”. But it turns out it’s only in four countries, so I still don’t have a Prime subscription.

You can fill up in the valleys between passes, but yes, if you have a small tank, be sure to plan for that. Pushing hard up those slopes is thirsty work!

Depends which pass - the Furka, Grimsel, and Susten are very tight, so think Lotus. The Gotthard is much more wide open, so big bruisers like Aston-Martins or 911 Turbos would do better there. But seriously, any good car will do well up there.

This would be why around here (Italy) it’s illegal to drive with slippers or in general with footwear that does not securely hold the heel.

I’m weirdly attracted to that… that Thing. Oh god, so confused.

The question I had as soon as I saw the thing is, why are the “falcon doors” only at the rear? Let’s say I buy all the justification about narrow parking spaces. The one door that HAS to open inside said tight space… is the driver’s door! With my boring old-style doors, I stop short, let kids out, drive into the

I had the chance to hear Alex talking about the crash. He made some joke about how the surgical team wrote a whole new book of trauma procedures based entirely on his case. Then he showed photos of the new legs he’d just had built to go scuba diving. What a legend.

Nit: the literal translation of “Autoveicolo Da Montagna” would be “mountain motor vehicle”, not “car”. It’s true that “autoveicolo” or “automobile” in Italian, generally shortened to “auto”, are terms for cars, but they are actually more generic terms, with cars being a sub-category.

*looks at BRZ*

In my part of Europe (infamous for fog) we also have road markings on motorways so that you can check visibility. If you can only see two marks, you should only be doing 50 km/h. If you can only see one mark, it’s basically walking speed.

Amen on the “Avoid stopping where possible” rule. The last time I got stuck in the snow was a few years ago. I’d just taken delivery of my new BMW company car, and had an appointment to put winter tyres on, but was still running the all-seasons it had been delivered on. Remember this point, because it will be

Same here in Italy. Really makes a difference, especially on rear-wheel-drive cars. I can’t be bothered storing a second set of rims, so I pay the tyre-fitters a small amount to swap them and they store the other set of tyres too, take care of recycling at end-of-life, and generally take care of bureaucracy.

I’m not even in the US, let alone buying lottery tickets, but this is a topic I love to think about! My dream garage is organised by category, only one of each type.

I put a CarPlay system in my car, so I use Siri quite a lot. I probably use it most frequently for making calls, but I also use it quite a lot for music, for navigation, to read & send messages, to set reminders or make notes, and even to send the occasional tweet.
